How do i enter the amazing race

The Amazing Race is a reality game show normally broadcast in one-hour episodes in which teams of two or four race around the world in competition with other teams. How do I enter the amazing race CBS program has been on-air since 2001 and is currently in between seasons. It is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer for CBS and Touchstone Television (technically making it partially a Disney show) and hosted by New Zealander Phil Keoghan. It was created by Elise Doganieri and Bertram van Munster.

The race utilizes progressive elimination similar to Survivor; the last team to arrive at a designated checkpoint leaves the game. The race resembles a treasure hunt in amateur rally racing. The race starts in a US city. Teams must then follow clues and instructions and make their way to checkpoints in places around the world, eventually racing back to the finish line in the US.

Teams must purchase economy class tickets for airfare. Teams are allowed to be upgraded to first or business class by the airline, as long as they only paid an economy fare (Frank and Margarita, Season 1; Reichen and Chip, Season 4; Ray and Deana, Season 7). Teams are not allowed contact with known friends, family, and personal acquaintances during the race. However, teams are allowed to stay in contact with and receive help from people they meet during the race, such as travel agents. (One exception to this rule occurred in Season 3. Teams were offered a cellular phone after completing a detour. As CBS’s website explains, “They had the option of making one phone call to their loved ones back home before driving to the chateau. Teams could talk on the phone as long as they wanted, but had to end the call before getting in their cars.”)

When stated, teams may not help other teams in challenges. (Uchenna said this when he wanted to help Meredith with the boat in Season 7.) Otherwise, teams may assist one another in completing tasks, as seen in Season 8, where many teams had help setting up their tents, and the Linz and Godlewski teams cooperated to complete a Detour.

Racers are prohibited from smoking during the race. This results in the sometimes cantankerous attitude of some contestants, such as Ian (Season 3) who quit smoking just prior to the race.

For filming purposes, team members are generally required to stay within 20 feet of each other, unless one person is performing a Roadblock. Teams may be forced to submit their backpacks and possessions to searches by production staff at any time.

How to play dos games under windows xp?
(source: dosgames.com)

Sometimes when you run old games, the error message that results when you run the game will pop up and disappear so quickly that it’s impossible to read it! Here’s how to fix that problem:

# Find the game’s executable file (the file you run, usually {somename}.exe) using Windows Explorer. Right click on the file, and choose “Properties”.
# Click the “Program” tab, and uncheck the box marked “Close on exit”.
# Click “Apply” and then click “OK” to close the box.

This will stop the DOS window from closing automatically when the game ends, or when it refuses to start. The resulting error message(s) can help you solve problems with the game.

Way back in the MSDOS days, we had to play with our computer’s memory to get games running. Stuff like conventional memory, EMS, XMS, upper memory, loadhigh … lots of yucky stuff like that. Windows tries to manage memory for you automatically, but sometimes it doesn’t do a very good job. Try giving the game the maximum amount of memory it could possibly want by:

# Find the game’s executable file (the file you run, usually {somename}.exe) using Windows Explorer. Right click on the file, and choose “Properties”.
# Click the “Memory”… tab.
# Set all of the values in the drop boxes to the highest value available.
# Make sure that the “Protected” and “Uses HMA” boxes are checked.
# Click “Apply” and then click “OK” to close the box.

Sometimes using the maximum memory settings isn’t enough! Sometimes you need to create custom AUTOEXEC and CONFIG files for the game to use. Luckily in XP this isn’t too hard at all. Here’s how:

# Open up Windows Explorer, and go to the C:\WINDOWS\System32 folder.
# Find the files “AUTOEXEC.NT” and “CONFIG.NT”. Copy those files to the same folder where the game’s files are stored. (ex. if you were trying to get DOOM working, and DOOM was installed in C:\DOOM, you’d copy the files to C:\DOOM!)
# Find the game’s executable file (the file you run, usually {somename}.exe) using Windows Explorer. Right click on the file, and choose “Properties”.
# Click the “Program” tab. Click the “Advanced” button. Enter the full paths to the AUTOEXEC.NT and CONFIG.NT files you just copied. (ex. C:\DOOM\AUTOEXEC.BAT …)
# Also check the “Comaptible Timer Emulation” box, although it rarely helps anything.
# Now you can edit the AUTOEXEC.NT and CONFIG.NT files to add whatever specific settings the game needs to run. (Consult the game’s manual if you have it.) If you don’t know what settings to add, try adding the line “emm=ram” (without the quotes) somewhere after the line “dos=high, umb”.
# Click “Apply” and then click “OK” to close the dialog box(es) when you’re done editing.

This should take care of any memory problems you’re having, and by checking the “Compatible Timer Emulation” box, it may also fix speed problems.

There are a couple of other tweaks you can do to make games run and/or make them run more smoothly:

# Find the game’s executable file (the file you run, usually {somename}.exe) using Windows Explorer. Right click on the file, and choose “Properties”.
# Click the “Program” tab, and check the “Maximized” checkbox in the Run box.
# Click the “Screen” tab, and click on the “Full-screen” radio button.
# Click the “Misc” tab, and turn the “Allow screensaver” option off. Put the mouse in “Exclusive mode”.
# Click the “Compatibility” tab, and check the box beside “Run in compatibility mode”, and choose “Windows 95″ in the dropbox. (Although this doesn’t seem to do anything, it’s worth a shot.) Check the three other boxes: “Run in 256 colors” (most DOS games don’t use more than that), “Run in 640×480 screen resolution” (unless you know that the game uses a higher resolution), and “Disable visual themes”.
# Click “Apply” and then click “OK” to close the box.

Getting sound to work properly in games can be one of the most annoying problems in XP. Windows XP tries to emulate DOS sound automatically, using the following settings: A220 I5 D1 T3 P330. If a game (or its setup program) is asking for sound card info, that is what you should enter.

However, I’ve found that this rarely works. A better solution is to download VDMSound, a Sound Blaster emulator specifically made for Windows XP/2000. (VDMSound will NOT work in Windows 9x or ME!) Download and install the software found on that site. Then when you want to play the game, either create a shortcut using VDMSound as described in the game docs, or, just right click on a game, and choose the option to run it with VDMS. Hopefully, you’ll hear sound!

Note that sometimes the only way to get a game working is to turn off sound. It can kinda suck to play a game without sound, but its better than nothing. Often there is a “SETUP.EXE” or “CONFIG.EXE” (or something similar) file that comes with a game that allows you to select your sound options. Use this program to turn sound off and see if that allows you to run the game.

If the game runs too fast, here’s what to do:

# Find the game’s executable file (the file you run, usually {somename}.exe) using Windows Explorer. Right click on the file, and choose “Properties”.
# Click the “Program” tab. Click the “Advanced” button.
# Check the “Comaptible Timer Emulation” box. Click “OK”, then “Apply”, then “OK” again. See if that fixes the games speed.

If you’re getting an error which looks something like “RUNTIME ERROR 200″ (possibly followed by “AT ADDRESS {blah blah blah}”) or sometimes just something like “DIVIDE BY ZERO”, there are two things you can try to do:

# Try using Moslo to slow down the game. The error is occuring because your computer is running too fast!

If you find that you need to use some specific keyboard sequences (like Alt-Enter, or Ctrl-Esc for example), there is a way to turn them off for specific games:

# Find the game’s executable file (the file you run, usually {somename}.exe) using Windows Explorer. Right click on the file, and choose “Properties”.
# Click the “Misc” tab, and uncheck the box(es) that correspond to the key(s) that you need to use for the game.

Okay, smashing your computer probably won’t do any good. Unless you’re rich. In which case, SHOW ME THE MONEY!!! Ahem. What I mean to say is that, as I mentioned above, some games just will not work in XP. The only solutions available to you then are:

# Dual-boot your PC to an older version of Windows (ex. Windows 98SE) where you KNOW the game works. This can be a time-consuming and possibly dangerous (to your data) task unless you know what you’re doing, so proceed with caution.
# If you still have an old 386/486/Pentium lying around, convert it into a DOS-only box, and use it for all your DOS gaming goodness! If you don’t have an old box lying around, ask friends and one of them will probably have an old computer they’re willing to just give you, or sell you for really cheap.

How the tsunami happened?

A tsunami (pronounced soo-nahm-ee) is a series of huge waves that happen after an undersea disturbance, such as an earthquake or volcano eruption. (Tsunami is from the Japanese word for harbor wave.) The waves travel in all directions from the area of disturbance, much like the ripples that happen after throwing a rock. The waves may travel in the open sea as fast as 450 miles per hour. As the big waves approach shallow waters along the coast they grow to a great height and smash into the shore. They can be as high as 100 feet. They can cause a lot of destruction on the shore. They are sometimes mistakenly called “tidal waves,” but tsunami have nothing to do with the tides.

Hawaii is the state at greatest risk for a tsunami. They get about one a year, with a damaging tsunami happening about every seven years. Alaska is also at high risk. California, Oregon and Washington experience a damaging tsunami about every 18 years.

In 1964, an Alaskan earthquake generated a tsunami with waves between 10 and 20 feet high along parts of the California, Oregon and Washington coasts.

In 1946, a tsunami with waves of 20 to 32 feet crashed into Hilo, Hawaii, flooding the downtown area.

The Tsunami Warning Centers in Honolulu Hawaii and Palmer Alaska monitor disturbances that might trigger tsunami. When a tsunami is recorded, the center tracks it and issues a warning when needed.

How do i determine my rising sign
(source: astrologyzine.com)

The Sign of the Zodiac which was just coming up on the Eastern Horizon at the time and place of your birth is what is called your “Rising Sign” – and it’s there even if no one could see it because the Sun was too bright during daylight hours. To know which Sign was rising, you have to know what time you were born, and the place you were born (the town or city, state, and country).

Your Sun Sign (what you might call “my zodiac sign” or “star sign”) is actually the Sign the Sun was in at birth; and it might just happen to be the same Sign as your Rising Sign ONLY if you were born close to the time of Sunrise while the Sign the Sun was IN was ALSO the Sign that was rising at that time.

The Rising Sign is sometimes called the “Ascending Sign”. It indicates how you appear to others on “first impression”, and it is also how you want to appear. It is not who you “are” – it is how you “act”. It is your “image” and style and mannerisms. Unless your Rising Sign and Sun Sign are the same (true for only 1 of every 12 people) then what they see is NOT what you are inside. Traits of your Rising Sign show on the outside much more than traits of your Sun Sign.

We can use tables in an Ephemeris (or use a computer program) to determine the exact… Sign and degree of that point on the horizon, which is called the Ascendant or “Ascendant Point”. As the Earth turns, the Rising Sign moves up from the horizon about one degree every four minutes, so the exact degree of the Rising Sign which is sitting on the horizon is constantly changing over the course of a few minutes. When the 30th degree has risen after about two hours (30 x 4 minutes = 120 minutes), a new Sign appears on the horizon and becomes the new Rising Sign at that time and place.

The Ascendant Point (located somewhere from 0 to 29 degrees of the Ascending or Rising Sign) is always the first degree of the First House in all systems used to calculate the astrological Houses. As the Ascendant moves minute-by-minute, so does the Cusp of the First House and ALL of the other 11 house cusps. So the Sun or Moon or a Planet which might have been in one House at a given time might be in the next House any time from a few minutes to 2 hours later!

This is why your exact birth time is needed to know exactly what House they were in at your time of birth. The Sun and Planets move around the zodiac only one degree or less per day of 24 hours, so they don’t change Sign that quickly (unless they were already very close to the cusp at the time); but the House each is in will change at least every two hours – and for some, the House might change within a few minutes.

You can tell the time of birth (approximately) just by looking for the position of the Sun in your birth horoscope – which is also called a “birth chart”, or natal horoscope (and you are called the native). When the Sun is located near the Ascendant, you must have been born close to Sunrise (because it indicates the Sun was rising then). When the Sun is at the very top of the chart near the Midheaven, you were born close to Noon. When the Sun is on the horizon line at the right of the chart (near the 7th House cusp) you were born close to Sunset. When the Sun is at the very bottom of the chart you were born near Midnight.

If you happened to be born at exactly the moment the Sun was rising, the Sign and degree of the Ascendant and the Sign and degree of the Sun would be the same. If you were born exactly when the Sun was setting, the Sign & degree of the Sun would be the same as the Sign & degree of another Point called “the Descendant”, which is always exactly 180 degrees opposite the position of the Ascendant (and thus is always in the opposite Sign), since they are both on the same Horizon Line.

How much does a piece of paper weigh?

One standard, 8.5×11 inch, 20# sheet of paper weighs approximately .16 ounce. This is useful in calculating the postage of a mailing. You could multiply the number of sheets plus the weight of the envelope to get the entire weight of the shipment.

The remarkable fact realized by Galilean is that all objects accelerate towards the Earth at the same rate. You can verify this yourself by doing the following simple experiment. Hold a sheet of paper in one hand and your physics text book in the other, and drop them simultaneously from the same height above your desk. Do they hit the desk at the same time? The answer is no, but we know that the reason has to do with air resistance, which has more effect on the light piece of paper than on the heavy text book. Now if the piece of paper is just a bit smaller than the size of your textbook you can place the paper on top of the book, and drop the two together. You should find, quite dramatically, that the book and paper hit the desk at precisely the same instant.

(source: whatdomenreallythink.com)

Dirty love letters actually help you go the long way with your relationship with your boyfriend. So if you are planning to write a dirty letter to your boyfriend then you are just on the right path to strengthen your relationship.

The first thing about writing a dirty letter is to ensure that you write it from the bottom of your heart. It does not matter if the love letter is dirty or clean (there is nothing like dirty or clean by the way, it is all a state of mind).
There are a few things to keep in mind:
Handwritten letters as compared to Emails: Handwritten love letters are more personal than emails. They communicate more effectively with your guy letting him feel your exact emotions Did you know that human beings can actually feel the other person’s presence when he has something material to look at? In this case, your handwriting. It really does not matter how good or bad your writing is. What matters is that you took the time to pen down a passionate hand written love letter to your boyfriend.

Get into the mood when writing the letter: Put on a hot costume, climb into the bed, sprinkle perfume, and get into the right mood. This will help you come up with better sentences and love words. As I said before, it is all about writing from the heart.

Picturise your Boyfriend: Imagine the smile on your boyfriend’s face as he reads your dirty love letter. This will help you jot down better sentences.

Make use of a lot of hand made smiles: You can even use some fancy love stickers if you have any. You know boys love it when their girl goes the extra mile for them. So do what the best you can.

Make it legible: you don’t what your boy friend guessing what you have written. You want him to feel the depth of your heart that you have poured out in that piece of love paper. So space your writing, write slow and legible.

Kiss it up: To make the love letter really special apply lipstick to your lips (preferably red) and kiss up the letter at the end so as to leave an imprint of your lips on it. Lip marks on the paper can really turn your boyfriend on for good. As a tip, you can start off by kissing the love letter before you start to write anything. This way, you can always change the paper if the lip imprint did not fall properly on the paper.

Draw love symbols: The best known love symbol of them all is the symbol of two hearts pierced by an arrow. So make sure you draw a heart symbol without fail on the paper somewhere. You can also make use of other love symbols to show how much you are in love with him

Paper quality: Boys store love letters just like you girls and hence it is important that you write the letter on a good quality paper so it can withstand the trials of time. Who knows after a long time you both could be sitting and reading the same dirty love letter together and thinking how naughty you both had been in your younger days. Include date on the envelop cover so you know when exactly the letter was written.

Work up something creative: This is about going the extra mile. Think of some really creative stuff. How about writing ‘I love you’ on rose petals an pasting them on to the letter? Sounds good? No? Okay, think of something on your own..

Include a picture: If you and your boyfriend have not seen each other for sometime cause of some reasons, it is always good to include a picture of you along with the letter. How about making the picture a bit special by writing something on top of it like ‘thinking about you’ or ‘waiting for you to kiss me’. Make sure you pout your lips in the picture though.
What to write in the love letter so you guy loves it?
Coming to the meat of this article, what exactly can you write in the love letter? How to make it dirty and hot for your boyfriend?

1.) Include stuff related to the experiences you have had together with your boyfriend. Like for instance, if the relationship is not too old, you can talk about the first kiss or the first time you and your boyfriend made love. You can even talk about love experiences that happened recently between the both of you.

2.) Instead of making direct raw references to private parts of your and your lover’s body, talk about them indirectly. Make use of words like candy stick or love tool. You know what I am coming say..

3.) You can include a fantasy that you had last night about making love to your boyfriend. There is a difference between porn and a hot love letter, so make sure you keep it that way. You want your boyfriend to think about you when reading the love letter and not to just read it as a porn post.

4.) Just remember one thing. For a guy it is not important how dirty the love letter was. What really matters is the depth and intensity of the letter. You can create this intensity by following the above pointers. Good luck with your love letter..

In the winter Olympics in Nagano in 1998, US women won four gold medals. Three individual gold medals and a team gold for the ice hockey.

The total of gold medals won by Americans was six. US men won two.

The US women won only two gold medals in the Winter Olympics held in Japan. Winter Olympics were held in Japan’s Sapporo city in the year 1972.

Dianne Holum was one of the winners. She won the golds in the speed skate event. Anne Henning was another athlete who won a gold in the same event. Holum won gold in 1500 meter event and it was a record for Olympics, but she finished sixth in 1000 meter race and also folded up her Olympic career.

Anne Henning won the gold medal in 500 meter speed skating. At the race she was obstructed by Sylvia Burka, but she still was able to set the fastest time record. But she was allowed to repeat the event and she improved her time even further. At the age of 16, Henning became the youngest speed skating champion in the Olympic history.

(source: extension.osu.edu)

The explanation of radioactive decay begins with a description of the atom. Atoms are made up of three subatomic particles: protons, neutrons, and electrons. The protons and neutrons are packed together in the nucleus at the center of the atom (see Figure 1). The electrons orbit the nucleus. The number of protons in the nucleus determines what material (element) the atom is. For example, if the nucleus contains 8 protons, the atom is oxygen. If the nucleus contains 17 protons, the atom is chlorine.

When the nucleus of a radioactive isotope gives up its extra energy, that energy is called ionizing radiation. Ionizing radiation may take the form of alpha particles, beta particles, or gamma rays. Ionizing radiation is of concern because it may cause adverse health effects. The process of emitting the radiation is called radioactive decay.

All materials are made of atoms. Radioactive atoms are unstable; that is, they have too much energy. When radioactive atoms release their extra energy, they are said to decay. All radioactive atoms decay. After releasing all their excess energy, the atoms become stable and are no longer radioactive. The time required for decay depends upon the type of atom. This fact sheet explains the process of radioactive decay.

Buying a diamond for the first time is a very personal and exciting experience. Hands down, the first thing on the mind of the buyer will be: How can I know I am buying the real thing and not a fake?

If you have been given a beautiful diamond or heirloom and you want to be absolutely sure that your diamond is real, get a professional appraisal. This can be done by looking under “Jewelry” (Appraisal) found in your yellow pages. Call to inquire about their services and ask these two important questions:

1. Will I be able to accompany my jewelry at all times or will you take my jewelry to evaluate elsewhere? If they say they will need to separate your jewelry from you at any point, it would be wise to find another appraiser.
2. What is the fee? ($50.00-$75.00 is considered a good fee.)

If a professional appraisal is not within your limited budget, here are some other methods.

1. If you have access to a diamond tester, you can test for diamonds vs. simulants. (Beware, moissanite is the only stone than can fool the electronic diamond tester.)
2. The transparency test. Flip your diamond upside down and place it over some newsprint. If you can clearly read through the stone, it’s not a diamond. (Beware, some low cut diamonds or stones such as emeralds can be read through.)
3. The fog test. Put your diamond in front of your mouth and fog it like you would fog a mirror. If it stays fogged for 2-4 seconds, it’s a fake. A real diamond will disperse the heat instantaneously so by the time you look at it, it has already cleared up. Oil and dirt on the stone can affect reliability and the test is not accurate at all on doublets where the top of the stone is diamond and the bottom is cubic zirconia glued together.
4. Test for weight. The most popular diamond simulant (fake) is a cubic zirconia. C.Z.’s will weigh approximately 55% more than diamonds for the same shape and size. Use a carat or gram scale to see if the impostor tips the scales too much.
5. The U.V. test. Many diamonds will show fluorescence of blue if put under an ultra violet light or black light. 99% of all fakes don’t do this; so, a positive identification of medium to strong blue would indicate a diamond. Diamonds with blue fluorescence can be as much as 20% less valuable; however, lack of blue fluorescence doesn’t mean it’s a fake; it could be a better quality diamond.
6. The under the loop test. With a magnifying lens, there are some things you can look for on the stone that might give away its identity:
1. Look at your diamond from the top and see how the facets (the cuts on top of the diamond) are joined. They should be sharp but not rolled.
2. Is the girdle faceted or frosty (yes, then it’s a diamond) or waxy and slick (yes, then it’s a fake.)
3. Under magnification, look into your diamond for flaws (carbon, pinpoints, small cracks.) It’s very hard to put inclusions into a fake.
4. Look at the stamps inside the setting. A stamp of “10K, 14K, 18K, 585, 750, 900, 950, PT, Plat” indicates the setting is real gold or platinum. This gives a better chance that the stone in it is real as well. Look for any “C.Z.” stamps. This will tell you the center stone is not a diamond.

Yoshi, sometimes Romanized Yossy in earlier Japanese language materials is a fictional dinosaur-like creature who appears in the Mario series of video games by Nintendo. His debut was in Super Mario World on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. He later had his own series with several platform and puzzle games, including Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island. He has also appeared in many of the spin-off Mario games, such as the Mario Party, the Mario Kart series as well as in other various Mario sports titles.

So how do you draw yoshi? That is a fair and popular draw question for the character yoshi. Yoshi is difficult to draw so how do you really get those shapes to pan out to look like the real thing? That is a perfectly honest question. You should read the rest of this article….

Yoshi made his debut in Super Mario World as a native dinosaur that Mario could ride on in order to eat enemies and otherwise navigate the island. This game spawned a prequel entitled Yoshi’s Island for the Super Nintendo on which the player could control Yoshi in order to protect Baby Mario from harm’s way as they advanced through the game. This led to a spin-off series of games including Yoshi’s Story for the Nintendo 64, Yoshi’s Universal Gravitation for the Game Boy Advance, and a number of games for the Nintendo DS, including Yoshi Touch & Go, and Yoshi’s Island DS. His 3D Mario platformer appearances include Super Mario 64 as a hidden, but not playable, character. Super Mario 64 DS, the port of the previously mentioned game but now as a playable character, and Super Mario Sunshine where he could be ridden on in the same fashion as in Super Mario World, but could not enter any bodies of water and could only harm villains by spitting out fruit juice that he had swallowed.
