Remove Ink Stains From:
Acetate, Burlap, Carpet/Synthetic, Carpet/Wool,
Fiberglass, Rayon, Silk, Triacetate, Wool

Sponge (the method of using light strokes with a dampened pad working outward from the center of the stain) the stain with water. Try a light spray of hair spray to loosen the stain, then apply a wet spotter and a few drops of white vinegar. Let stand for 30 minutes, blotting every 5 minutes with a clean absorbent pad. Add wet spotter and vinegar as needed to keep the stain moist. Flush (the method of applying stain remover to loosen staining materials and residue from stain removers) with water. If the stain persists, apply rubbing alcohol to the stain and cover with an absorbent pad moistened with alcohol. Let it stand as long as any stain is being removed. Change the pad as it picks up the stain. Flush with alcohol. (Do not use alcohol on acetate, rayon, or triacetate.) If stain traces remain, sponge area with water and apply a wet spotter and a few drops of ammonia. Let stand for 30 minutes, blotting every 5 minutes. Add enough wet spotter and ammonia (do not use ammonia on silk or wool) to keep the stain moist. Flush with water and allow to dry.

How do I get urine smell out of carpet? I have a kitty who decided to “tinkle” in the same spot for a number of weeks. We are certain that the urine seeped down into the padding. Eventually, we broke him of the habit and he is now happy with one of the fancy automatic litter boxes (a less-than-frugal option). Although we have used the standard over-the-counter products for neutralizing and deodorizing, the odor creeps up every now and then. Any suggestions?

Have you tried the enzyme odor neutralizers such as Simple Solution or Nature’s Miracle? Personally, I’ve found Nature’s Miracle to be about the best. You have to follow the directions EXACTLY though and saturate the area with the product, then leave it there the appropriate amount of time. You also have to treat ALL the areas where the animal has urinated, because if you leave a spot undone, the animal will smell that and think it’s still “okay” to go there. (more…)

A puppy is not physically able to control the muscle that allows him to “hold it” until he is about 12 weeks of age. Using a crate or confining your puppy to a small part of the house that has easy clean up floors are some ways to ensure your puppy does not urinate all over your house. It is much harder to housebreak a puppy if he smells is urine in places you do not wish him to relief himself.
There are many different methods in which you can housebreak your pet. Whichever way you choose, it is important to understand your puppy. Dogs want to please; the trick is to make them understand what it is you want from them.

Dogs do not think the way humans do. When you are unhappy with your dog, it assumes that whatever it is doing at the exact moment you show disapproval – is the thing that is upsetting you. For example:

If your puppy relieves himself on your floor and you show your disapproval five minutes after he has committed the act, the puppy will think that the mess on the floor is bad. He will not relate to the fact that it was the act of relieving himself on your floor that you disapprove of. The dog will eliminate, see the mess and get worried; you are now going to be unhappy. This is the reason so many dogs will relieve themselves in inappropriate places and look really guilty about it, yet they continue to do it. Dogs want to please, right?

Some owners start to think that their dog is being sneaky when really it does not fully understand what it is doing wrong. It knows the mess upsets you but does not understand that it should stop making the mess. To your dog, these two things:

* the mess,
* and the act,

are unrelated. The trick is to catch your dog in the act and make him understand. You do not need to hit your dog. The tone of your voice is enough to make the dog see you are unhappy. A firm “No! You are not allowed to go in the house. No! No!” is all that is needed. Immediately take your dog outside to the appropriate place. Wait for your dog to go again and when and if he does, praise him. Important: Always praise your dog after he eliminates in the appropriate place.

There may be some other books less involved which will tell you your moon sign without the symbolism of astrology.

The moon changes signs about every 2 1/2 days and it varies a little bit from year to year as to when it enters the sign around your birthday.

That’s why you need to look it up for your particular year of birth.

If you’re really interested in astrology, you may want to have your chart run through a computer with programming for astrological info.

Stress in the earth’s outer layer cause a pushing effect against the sides of the fault. Due to this motion, rocks slip or collide against each other releasing energy. This released energy travels in waves through the earth’s crust and causes the shaking that we feel during an earthquake.

Under the surface of the earth, the two sides of a fault are constantly moving, relative to one another. This movement is known as a fault slip. The movement of these two sides is not smooth and is accompanied by a gradual build-up of elastic strain energy within the rocks along the fault.

Eventually, the strain along the fault becomes too much.The fault then ruptures with a sudden movement releasing all the energy it has built up. This energy is released in the form of vibrations called ‘seismic waves’.

These waves travel along the surface and through the earth at varying speeds depending on the material through which they move. It is actually these seismic waves that cause most of the destructive effects, which we associate with earthquakes. (more…)

Most plants make seeds. Some plants put stickers on their seeds to make them stick to animals and humans. That’s one way they travel. Some other seeds are light, and have an aero-dynamic shape. This helps them to move through the wind. Alot of plants grow with seeds in them so that when a bird, or other animal eats the fruit, the seeds don’t digest, and they come out sometime later. They can also be replanted into other plants to get fertilized by bees.

The female part of the plant produces a egg. Then the male part of the plant pollinates the egg and there for reproduces.  For instance, most plants are capable of vegetative reproduction—reproduction without seeds or spores—but can also reproduce sexually.

Organisms that reproduce through asexual reproduction tend to grow in number exponentially. However, because they rely on mutation for variations in their DNA, all members of the species have similar vulnerabilities. Organisms that reproduce sexually yield a smaller number of offspring, but the large amount of variation in their genes makes them less susceptible to disease.

Many organisms can reproduce sexually as well as asexually.  Plants can be both.

Thus, if a species has “two flights from May through September” it means that one generation will emerge from the pupal stage in spring and a second in summer. Actual months of emergence depend on latitude. Life spans of these two generations will be very different depending upon the species’ strategy for getting through the winter.

If the spring flight comes from eggs that were laid in fall by the previous year’s summer flight, the total life span for the spring flight is 10-11 months. Eggs laid in May/June by those adults develop much more rapidly, due to higher temperatures, and adults emerge in about 2-3 months, resulting in a total life span of 3½-4 months for the summer flight, or less than half that of the spring flight. However, if the species is one in which adults of the summer flight overwinter, then the spring flight develops from eggs laid in spring, and in this case the summer flight is the longer-lived generation.

The Tower at Pisa has been leaning since the early days of its construction. It had only reached a height of 10 metres when the foundations started to slip. Atempts were made to correct this but the structure was completed as a leaning tower in 1350, about 175 years after the work had first started.

North Italy has a number of leaning towers but most of them started leaning quite a while after they were built, so the one at Pisa is unique.

The tower is made from white marble and is nearly 56 metres high and has 8 storeys, each containing 8 bells that sound a different note on the musical scale. It used to be possible, until relatively recently, to climb to the top of the leaning tower of Pisa and look at the view below. This was a strange experience as the tower does lean over at quite a sharp angle. For safety reasons, this is now not allowed.

A tutorial on the Nautical Star. I chose to do the sketch and drawing because, for the past year or so I’ve been seeing this particular star on the front of homes, on buildings, and so forth. It wasn’t till recently that I really wanted to know what the star meant, now I always had an assumption about the meaning of the nautical star, but I never really knew the truth behind the symbol.

I searched around the web and found that my assumption was in fact not all that far from the truth, you see I thought that people where displaying the nautical star because they had a loved one overseas like in the military, and come to find out, that this star has a butt load of meanings.
