Just What I Needed You Might Think Drive

While casual admirers of the Cars can stick with their 1985 Greatest Hits collection, more serious fans should go right to the more thorough two-CD set Just What I Needed: The Cars Anthology.

Where as Greatest Hits stuck more or less with their singles, The Cars Anthology contains strong album cuts, non-album B-sides, demos, and unreleased takes, as well as all the… More expected hits (and a 27-page booklet crammed with rare photos and the band’s bio). Just about every rock fan is long familiar with such tracks as “Just What I Needed,” “Shake It Up,” “Magic,” and “Let’s Go” (to name a few), but the collection’s main attraction is its abundance of unfamiliar material. Such previously released album tracks as “Dangerous Type,” “Gimme Some Slack,” and “Cruiser” are highlights, as are the rarities “Cool Fool” (one of their hardest-rocking tracks ever), “That’s It,” a cover of Iggy Pop’s “Funtime,” and a pair of album-closing early demos (”Leave or Stay” and “Ta Ta Wayo Wayo”). At nearly two and a half hours long, Just What I Needed: The Cars Anthology is the ultimate Cars collection, which only confirms their standing as one of the finest bands of the new wave era

Coke Made Of

What is Coke Made of

what-is-coke-made-ofWhen launched Coca-Cola’s two key ingredients were cocaine and caffeine. The cocaine was derived from the coca leaf and the caffeine from kola nuts — Coca-Cola (the ‘K’ in Kola was replaced with a C for marketing purposes).

Coca — Cocaine
Pemberton called for five ounces of coca leaf per gallon of syrup, a significant dose, whereas, in 1891, Candler claimed his formula (altered extensively from Pemberton’s original) contained only a tenth of this amount. Coca-Cola did once contain an estimated nine milligrams of cocaine per glass, but in 1903 it was removed. Coca-Cola still contains coca flavoring.
After 1904, Coca-Cola started using, instead of fresh leaves, “spent” leaves — the leftovers of the cocaine-extraction process with cocaine trace levels left over at a molecular level. To this day, Coca-Cola uses as an ingredient a cocaine-free coca leaf extract prepared at a Stepan Company plant in Maywood, New Jersey. In the United States, Stepan Company is the only manufacturing plant authorized by the Federal Government to import and process the coca plant. Stepan laboratory in Maywood, New Jersey, is the nation’s only legal commercial importer of Read the rest of this entry »

Average World Height?

What is the average world height?

What is the average world height?

What is the average world height? Human height varies according to both “nature” and “nurture”. The particular human genome that an individual inherits is a large part of the first variable (nature) and a combination of health and environmental factors present before adulthood (when growth stops) are a major part of the second determinant (”nurture”). Hereditary factors include both genes and chromosomes, and are inborn. Environmental factors are events that occur before adult height is reached, such as diet, exercise, and living conditions.

When populations share genetic background and environmental factors, average height is frequently characteristic within the group. Exceptional height variation (around 20% deviation from average) within such a population is usually due to gigantism or dwarfism; which are medical conditions due to specific genes or to endocrine abnormalities. In regions of extreme poverty or prolonged warfare, environmental factors like malnutrition during childhood and/or adolescence may account for marked reductions in adult stature even without the presence of any of these medical conditions. This is one reason that immigrant populations from regions of extreme poverty to regions of plenty may show an increase in stature, despite sharing the same gene pool.

The average height for each sex within a population is significantly different, with adult males being (on average) taller than adult females. This difference may be attributed to sex chromosomal differences, XY (male) as opposed to XX (female). Women ordinarily reach their greatest height at a younger age than men. Vertical growth stops when the long bones stop lengthening, which occurs with the closure of epiphyseal plates. These plates are bone growth centers that disappear (”close”) under the hormonal surges brought about by the completion of puberty. Puberty generally occurs several years earlier in young women than in young men, and so final adult height is reached earlier in women. Adult height for one sex in a particular ethnic group follows more or less a normal distribution.

De Novo Hearing?

What is a De Novo Hearing?

What is a De Novo Hearing?

What is a De Novo hearing? A De Novo hearing occurs when two people meet in court on the last day of De Novo’s life.  It is a sad day to meet in court that day but some simply shrug it off.  De Novo is a man to celebrate not to frown.

Newly chartered bank, as opposed to a bank acquired through a purchase Acquisition or a newly opened branch banking office. Banking expansion can take place through chartering of new banks and approval of new branch offices by state banking departments, or through the acquisition of existing banks (and banking offices). In states where de novo branching is tightly regulated, for example, the Unit Banking states in the Midwest where branching is prohibited by state law, banking companies have frequently been able to expand geographically by forming a multibank holding company, which then acquired other banks. State Interstate Banking laws have permitted banking expansion only through holding company acquisitions, rather than de novo charters of new banks.

Signs Compatible With Aquarius?

What Sign is Compatible With Aquarius?

What Sign is Compatible With Aquarius?

What sign is compatible with Aquarius? The answer to this compatibility with Aquarius is Venus. You don’t want to follow all the “rules” in love, preferring to love in your own way, unfettered by convention or what is “supposed” to  be, or usually, done.

You are future-minded, a tad unconventional (in love, anyhow) and there’s an unmistakable “free spirit” in you that shows up most obviously in matters of the heart. This is not to say you cannot—or will not—fall in love. Infatuations happen easily, but true love can be a little elusive for you. When you do make a commitment, you are generally able to stick to it. The commitment you make generally has to be a little different in order to be tolerable to you, and you are proud of that difference. Following the beaten track simply doesn’t sit well with you.

You have an aloof air about you that others find attractive. If they are looking for a commitment from you at a later date, however, what was once considered charismatic might become annoying! It is easy for you to feel claustrophobic in relationships that are too close, too needy, or too demanding of your time. If you have the space to breathe a little, all the better. This is when you are at your best.

You are a curious person and enjoy intellectual stimulation in your relationships. Although you are not someone who would be considered flighty, you do not tolerate stagnation very well. You need to feel like your relationship is heading somewhere. Your ability to detach yourself from a situation, take a step back, and look at it from a unique perspective is a tremendous strength. As willing as you are to stir things up if you are in the mood to enforce change, there is a wonderful calm surrounding you that can be most appealing to others. You are ahead of your time in matters of the heart, and you will be best off finding a partner who values your insight.

Catherine Parr Come From?

Where did Catherine Parr come from?

Where did Catherine Parr come from?

Where did Catherine Parr come from is on the minds of thousands of people throughout the world.  Catherine Parr may have come from the land of Hanalee, but no one really knows if this make believe land exists.  The name Parr, is actually Dutch, connected to a long line of Dutch royalty.  Catherine Parr’s heritage has been with us for a long time and so asking the question, “Where did Catherine Parr come from?” is desired by many people.

Katherine Parr was the eldest daughter of Sir Thomas Parr and his wife Maud Green, both of whom were at the court of Henry VIII in his early reign. Maud was a lady-in-waiting to Queen Catherine of Aragon and named her daughter, born in 1512, after her. So, Henry VIII’s last wife was named after his first. Thomas Parr died in November 1517, leaving his three children, William, Katherine and Anne in the care of their mother. Maud managed the children’s education and the family estates and must have left an impression on her daughter of the greater role an independent woman could have in society. The education that Maud arranged for the children was similar to that of other noble figures of the time and at least in the case of Katherine, it ignited a life-long passion for learning. She was fluent in French, Latin and Italian and began learning Spanish when she was Queen.

Katherine Parr’s first marriage was to Edward Borough, the son of Thomas, third Baron Borough of Gainsborough in 1529 when she was 17 years old. Edward died only a few years later, probably in early 1533. It was during this marriage that Katherine’s mother Maud died, in December 1531. Katherine’s second marriage was to John Neville, third Baron Latimer of Snape Castle in Yorkshire, whom she married in the summer of 1534 when he was 41 and she was 22. Latimer had two children from his previous marriages so Katherine also became a stepmother for the first time. During the Pilgrimage of Grace a rebel mob forced Latimer to join them and later took Katherine and her stepchildren hostage at the castle. Latimer was able to eventually secure their freedom and managed to escape arrest for his associations with the rebellion after it was finally put down.

Why Should Religion Not Be Taught?

Why should religion not be taught?

Why should religion not be taught?

Why should religion not be taught? Teachers and administrators are prohibited from either encouraging or discouraging religious activity and from participating in such activity with students.  Public schools may not provide religious instruction but may teach about religion.

Students may express their beliefs about religion in homework, artwork and other written and oral assignments. The work should be judged by ordinary academic standards and against other “legitimate pedagogical concerns.” Students may distribute religious literature on the same terms other literature unrelated to curriculum can be distributed.  Schools have “substantial discretion” to excuse students from lessons objectionable on religious or other conscientious grounds.

But students generally don’t have a federal right to be excused from lessons inconsistent with religious beliefs or practices.  Schools may actively teach civic values and morals, even if some of those values also happen to be held by religions. Students may display religious messages on clothing to the same extent they may display other comparable messages.

Gary Coleman Short Height

Why is Gary Coleman so short?

Why is Gary Coleman so short?

Why is Gary Coleman so shortGary Coleman is so short because he suffers from a rare disease.  The disease is similar to a midget or a dwarf, only Gary Coleman has the characteristics of a child.  He cannot grow facial hair or pubic hair for that matter.  He suffers from a congenital kidney disease causing focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (an autoimmune destruction and alteration of the kidney), which halted his gro      wth at an early age, leading to a small stature (4 ft 8 in; 1.42 m). He has undergone two kidney transplants, one in 1973 and one in 1984, and requires daily dialysis.

Either way Gary Coleman was a little funny person who mad us all laugh.  We need to thow him a bud or two so he can go put something up in the air.  I am sure he would prefer that chronic green I-make-you-cough stuff.

If I know Gary Coleman, he likes the green.

Why did FARC start?

So why did FARC start? The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia or FARC started in the early days growing out of the turmoil and fighting in the 1950s between liberal and conservative militias.  FARC was established in 1964 by the Colombian Communist Party to defend what were then autonomous Communist-controlled rural areas. My Date of Conception

Figure Out My Date of Conception

Figure Out My Date of Conception

Figure out my date of conception is what we all wonder.  From the time we are born, to the present, figuring out my date of conception is very fair to ask.  Everyday people sit in their office chairs thinking, “Was I conceived in the late night hours, or was I conceived in the morning?”  Studies have shown that when someone states “figure out my date of conception” at the top of their lungs, they need help with this issue.

Becoming pregnant happens about midway through a woman’s cycle. A cycle is typically 28 days but can vary. Part of the key to knowing when you can best conceive is knowing your cycle. Keep track of your monthly periods. Get a calendar and circle the start and end dates. After a couple of months count how many days from the first day the period starts to the first day of when the next period starts. This is how many days your monthly cycle will be.

Estimated dates of conception are based at first on the first day of the last period the woman has. Sometimes a couple will be thrown off because a woman will have a short period even after she gets pregnant.

Make an appointment to go to the doctor when you think you are pregnant. Take with you the date of your last period and any side effects you are having. These will help your doctor determine if you are pregnant and an estimated date of conception. Have a sonogram done early in the pregnancy. The sonogram will help to confirm your date of conception with a few days before or after.

IT experts have long worshiped at the foot of the Golden Copy, that single file that contained all relevant data on customers. But many banks are finding that the idea of a single repository for this information just isn’t working out. Many are overhauling their data processes in favor a meta-data oriented approach. It doesn’t necessarily matter where the idea resides, as long as it is virtually accessible. Such an architecture, as long as its works, offers some obvious scale benefits. Wall Street & Technology notes the key is a unique identifier for every client, counter party and business entity, not unlike SSNs and CUSIP numbers. This sounds great on paper, but if the meta-data system doesn’t work as designed, you could envision a real nightmare: reams of customer data lost in the system.

Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland

Name the Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland

Name the Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland

Name the Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, “and what is the use of a book,” thought Alice, “without pictures or conversations?’ Not even a Name the Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland can be found.

So she was considering, in her own mind (as well as she could, for the hot day made her feel very sleepy and stupid), whether the pleasure of making a daisy-chain would be worth the trouble of getting up and picking the daisies, when suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her.

There was nothing so very remarkable in that; nor did Alice think it so very much out of the way to hear the Rabbit say to itself “Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!” (when she thought it over afterwards it occurred to her that she ought to have wondered at this, but at the time it all seemed quite natural); but, when the Rabbit actually took a watch out of its waistcoat-pocket, and looked at it, and then hurried on, Alice started to her feet, for it flashed across her mind that she had never before seen a rabbit with either a waistcoat-pocket, or a watch to take out of it, and burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it, and was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge. What was the rabbits name in Alice In Wonderland?

The White Rabbit is the first Wonderland character Alice encounters. So “White Rabbit” answers the popular question to, ” What was the rabbits name in Alice In Wonderland “. She follows him when he hurries into his hole and thereby enters Wonderland. He appears to be late for his job with the Duchess. While walking through Wonderland, Alice comes upon his house where the White Rabbit, still in a hurry, mistakes her for his housemaid Mary Ann, and orders her to get his gloves and a fan. When she grows and gets stuck in the house, the Rabbit orders Pat to get her out. In the end we discover that the White Rabbit is a herald in the Queen of Heart’s court.

The White Rabbit is nervous and always in a hurry. However, he is confident enough about himself to contradict the King of Hearts.
Because Alice follows him, he gets things moving again whenever he appears during the story. In a way, he is some kind of a guide through Wonderland for her, only unintentionally.

Starting Your Period

Is there a way to make your period start?

Having your period is also called menstruation. It’s a sign that you’re growing up. It means that your body is healthy and normal. Is there a way to make your period start?  That is a perfectly good question.

Many women experience menstrual problems such as heavy bleeding, severe pain, and irregular cycles. Most of these problems aren’t usually serious and most are temporary. However, in some cases the ailments may actually signal problems in the body.

A regular menstrual cycle means different things to different women. Age, for example can affect what’s described as a normal pattern. When adolescents first get their periods, they can expect irregular cycles for a year or two as sex hormones stabilize. The menstrual cycle becomes erratic again before menopause. During this time, ovarian hormone levels begin to fluctuate. Woman again experience irregular cycles. Read the rest of this entry »

When do puppies open there eyes

When do puppies open there eyes?

When do puppies open there eyes?

When do puppies open there eyes?

Puppies should not be separated from their mother and littermates before 8 weeks of age.  When puppies open there eyes is usually around that time.  Many recommend 10 weeks minimum. This is related to physical considerations such as weaning and psychological considerations such as the puppy’s readiness to leave the litter.

Many breeders believe it is best to NOT have two puppies together. They tend to bond to each other and not to you and that can cause serious problems when it comes time to train them. Having two puppies needing housetraining at the same time can make that process go on for much longer. This implies that you would not introduce a second dog before the other six months old and properly trained.

There are always exceptions, of course, and there are many happy dogs dogs that were littermates or otherwise puppies together out there.

In the English common law tradition, from which our legal doctrines and concepts have developed, a marriage was a contract based upon a voluntary private agreement by a man and a woman to become husband and wife. Marriage was viewed as the basis of the family unit and vital to the preservation of morals and civilization. Traditionally, the husband had a duty to provide a safe house, pay for necessities such as food and clothing, and live in the house. The wife’s obligations were maintaining a home, living in the home, having sexual relations with her husband, and rearing the couple’s children. Read the rest of this entry »

Qualify for Medicaid

How do you know if you qualify for medicaid?

How do you know if you qualify for medicaid?
(source: ehow.com)

Many of us today cannot afford good health care. Many single mothers and fathers are working two or more jobs but by the time the bills are paid and food is put on the table, there is nothing left. The state you live in says it truly wants all its residents to get good health care, and if you can’t afford it, then Medicaid can make it possible for you to get it. Here’s how to know if you qualify for Medicaid.

Step1
Medicaid is only available to those who are considered low-income. Medicaid will send the payments directly to your health care provider. You may be responsible to pay a small portion or co-payment for some medical services.

Medicaid is available in each state and is a federally funded program, each state sets its own guidelines regarding eligibility and services.

Certain requirements must be met according to your states guidelines. Some of these guidelines may be: your age, whether you have a disability, if you’re blind, a senior citizen, or if you’re pregnant. Other things will be looked into like your income, what kinds of resources you have like your bank accounts, if you own property and other items that can be sold for cash, if you’re a U.S. citizen, or a lawfully admitted immigrant. Special rules apply for those who live in nursing homes and for disabled children living at home.

Step2
Your children may be covered by Medicaid if they’re U.S. citizens or legally in this country, even if you are not. There is a five-year limit to those who are lawful permanent residents. The child’s status will make them eligible for… Read the rest of this entry »

Light travelling in empty space is the fastest thing in the universe. It travels at 186,000 miles per second!

The stars are so far away from us that their light still takes a long time to reach Earth. One light year is the distance light travels in a year: 5,878,499,812,499 miles. The closest star apart from the Sun is 4.2 light years away, so its light takes 4.2 years to reach Earth.

Tell the Birthday Stars computer when you were born, and it will look for a star that is your age in light years away from Earth. This means that the light we’re seeing from that star today actually left the star around when you were born, and has taken your entire life to reach Earth.

From month to month you may see your birthday star changing. This is because as you get older the light from more and more distant stars has had the time to travel to Earth in during your life.

Maintain portions of unplowed land between gardens and fields of crops. A patch of rough, grassy land can help to stop erosion caused by draining storm water.

Sponge (the method of using light strokes with a dampened pad working outward from the center of the stain) the stain with water. Try a light spray of hair spray to loosen the stain, then apply a wet spotter and a few drops of white vinegar. Let stand for 30 minutes, blotting every 5 minutes with a clean absorbent pad. Add wet spotter and vinegar as needed to keep the stain moist. Flush (the method of applying stain remover to loosen staining materials and residue from stain removers) with water. If the stain persists, apply rubbing alcohol to the stain and cover with an absorbent pad moistened with alcohol. Let it stand as long as any stain is being removed. Change the pad as it picks up the stain. Flush with alcohol. (Do not use alcohol on acetate, rayon, or triacetate.) If stain traces remain, sponge area with water and apply a wet spotter and a few drops of ammonia. Let stand for 30 minutes, blotting every 5 minutes. Some fancy versions such as the Segway x2 Golf, which is also a golf cart cost as much as $7,000. Sometimes when you run old games, the error message that results when you run the game will pop up and disappear so quickly that it’s impossible to read it! Here’s how to fix that problem:

# Find the game’s executable file (the file you run, usually {somename}.exe) using Windows Explorer. Right click on the file, and choose “Properties”.
# Click the “Program” tab, and uncheck the box marked “Close on exit”.
# Click “Apply” and then click “OK” to close the box.

This will stop the DOS window from closing automatically when the game ends, or when it refuses to start. The resulting error message(s) can help you solve problems with the game.

Way back in the MSDOS days, we had to play with our computer’s memory to get games running. Stuff like conventional memory, EMS, XMS, upper memory, loadhigh … lots of yucky stuff like that. How do I get urine smell out of carpet? I have a kitty who decided to “tinkle” in the same spot for a number of weeks. We are certain that the urine seeped down into the padding. Eventually, we broke him of the habit and he is now happy with one of the fancy automatic litter boxes (a less-than-frugal option). Although we have used the standard over-the-counter products for neutralizing and deodorizing, the odor creeps up every now and then. Any suggestions?

Have you tried the enzyme odor neutralizers such as Simple Solution or Nature’s Miracle? Personally, I’ve found Nature’s Miracle to be about the best. You have to follow the directions EXACTLY though and saturate the area with the product, then leave it there the appropriate amount of time. You also have to treat ALL the areas where the animal has urinated, because if you leave a spot undone, the animal will smell that and think it’s still “okay” to go there. Puppies Grow How Long

How long do puppies grow?

How long do puppies grow?

How long do puppies grow?
(source: dogbreedinfo.com/housebreaking.htm)

A puppy is not physically able to control the muscle that allows him to “hold it” until he is about 12 weeks of age. Before this time, good housebreaking routines should be practiced to avoid having your puppy urinate and defecate all over your house. Watch for signs of urination or defecation, such as turning in circles. Take your puppy out often. Using a crate or confining your puppy to a small part of the house that has easy clean up floors are some ways to ensure your puppy does not urinate all over your house. It is much harder to housebreak a puppy if he smells is urine in places you do not wish him to relief himself.
There are many different methods in which you can housebreak your pet. Whichever way you choose, it is important to understand your puppy. Dogs want to please; the trick is to make them understand what it is you want from them.

Dogs do not think the way humans do. When you are unhappy with your dog, it assumes that whatever it is doing at the exact moment you show disapproval – is the thing that is upsetting you. For example:

If your puppy relieves himself on your floor and you show your disapproval five minutes after he has committed the act, the puppy will think that the mess on the floor is bad. He will not relate to the fact that it was the act of relieving himself on your floor that you disapprove of. The dog will eliminate, see the mess and get worried; you are now going to be unhappy. This is the reason so many dogs will relieve themselves in inappropriate places and look really guilty about it, yet they continue to do it. Dogs want to please, right?

Some owners start to think that their dog is being sneaky when really it does not fully understand what it is doing wrong. It knows the mess upsets you but does not understand that it should stop making the mess. To your dog, these two things:

* the mess,
* and the act,

are unrelated. The trick is to catch your dog in the act and make him understand. You do not need to hit your dog. The tone of your voice is enough to make the dog see you are unhappy. A firm “No! You are not allowed to go in the house. No! No!” is all that is needed. Immediately take your dog outside to the appropriate place. Wait for your dog to go again and when and if he does, praise him. Important: Always praise your dog after he eliminates in the appropriate place.

Sigmund Freud Why Do We Dream

Sigmund Freud why do we dream.Sigmund freud why do we dream?
(source: coolquiz)

Two different schools of thought exist as to why we dream: the physiological school, and the psychological school.

Both, however, agree that we dream during the REM, or rapid eye movement, phase of sleep. During this phase of sleep, our closed eyes dart rapidly about, our brain activity peaks, and our muscles suffer temporary paralysis.

The physiological theory centers upon how our body, specifically our brains, function during the REM phase of sleep. Proponents of this theory believe that we dream to exercise the synapses, or pathways, between brain cells, and that dreaming takes over where the active and awake brain leaves off. When awake, our brains constantly transmit and receive messages, which course through our billions of brain cells to their appropriate destinations, and keep our bodies in perpetual motion. Dreams replace…. Read the rest of this entry »

My Moon Sign

How can I figure out what my moon sign is?

How can I figure out what my moon sign is?

How can i figure out what my moon sign is?

You need to look in an ephemeris for the year of your birth also.

So, see if your local library has those or if there’s somewhere on-line where you can look it up.

There may be some other books less involved which will tell you your moon sign without the symbolism of astrology.

The moon changes signs about every 2 1/2 days and it varies a little bit from year to year as to when it enters the sign around your birthday.

That’s why you need to look it up for your particular year of birth.

If you’re really interested in astrology, you may want to have your chart run through a computer with programming for astrological info.

It doesn’t cost too much and you can get the entire “map” of your birth,

including your ascendant or rising sign, all the planets in their signs & house and all the aspects between them.

How The Tsunami Happened

How the tsunami happened.

How the tsunami happened.

How the tsunami happened?

A tsunami (pronounced soo-nahm-ee) is a series of huge waves that happen after an undersea disturbance, such as an earthquake or volcano eruption. (Tsunami is from the Japanese word for harbor wave.) The waves travel in all directions from the area of disturbance, much like the ripples that happen after throwing a rock. The waves may travel in the open sea as fast as 450 miles per hour. As the big waves approach shallow waters along the coast they grow to a great height and smash into the shore. They can be as high as 100 feet. They can cause a lot of destruction on the shore. They are sometimes mistakenly called “tidal waves,” but tsunami have nothing to do with the tides.

Hawaii is the state at greatest risk for a tsunami. They get about one a year, with a damaging tsunami happening about every seven years. Alaska is also at high risk. California, Oregon and Washington experience a damaging tsunami about every 18 years.

In 1964, an Alaskan earthquake generated a tsunami with waves between 10 and 20 feet high along parts of the California, Oregon and Washington coasts.

In 1946, a tsunami with waves of 20 to 32 feet crashed into Hilo, Hawaii, flooding the downtown area.

The Tsunami Warning Centers in Honolulu Hawaii and Palmer Alaska monitor disturbances that might trigger tsunami. When a tsunami is recorded, the center tracks it and issues a warning when needed.

The Sign of the Zodiac which was just coming up on the Eastern Horizon at the time and place of your birth is what is called your “Rising Sign” – and it’s there even if no one could see it because the Sun was too bright during daylight hours. To know which Sign was rising, you have to know what time you were born, and the place you were born (the town or city, state, and country).

Your Sun Sign (what you might call “my zodiac sign” or “star sign”) is actually the Sign the Sun was in at birth; and it might just happen to be the same Sign as your Rising Sign ONLY if you were born close to the time of Sunrise while the Sign the Sun was IN was ALSO the Sign that was rising at that time.

The Rising Sign is sometimes called the “Ascending Sign”. It indicates how you appear to others on “first impression”, and it is also how you want to appear. It is not who you “are” – it is how you “act”. It is your “image” and style and mannerisms. Unless your Rising Sign and Sun Sign are the same (true for only 1 of every 12 people) then what they see is NOT what you are inside. Traits of your Rising Sign show on the outside much more than traits of your Sun Sign.

How much does a piece of paper weigh?

One standard, 8.5×11 inch, 20# sheet of paper weighs approximately .16 ounce. This is useful in calculating the postage of a mailing. You could multiply the number of sheets plus the weight of the envelope to get the entire weight of the shipment.

The remarkable fact realized by Galilean is that all objects accelerate towards the Earth at the same rate. You can verify this yourself by doing the following simple experiment. Hold a sheet of paper in one hand and your physics text book in the other, and drop them simultaneously from the same height above your desk. Do they hit the desk at the same time? The answer is no, but we know that the reason has to do with air resistance, which has more effect on the light piece of paper than on the heavy text book. Now if the piece of paper is just a bit smaller than the size of your textbook you can place the paper on top of the book, and drop the two together. You should find, quite dramatically, that the book and paper hit the desk at precisely the same instant.

Dirty love letters actually help you go the long way with your relationship with your boyfriend. So if you are planning to write a dirty letter to your boyfriend then you are just on the right path to strengthen your relationship.

The first thing about writing a dirty letter is to ensure that you write it from the bottom of your heart. It does not matter if the love letter is dirty or clean (there is nothing like dirty or clean by the way, it is all a state of mind).
There are a few things to keep in mind:
Handwritten letters as compared to Emails: Handwritten love letters are more personal than emails. They communicate more effectively with your guy letting him feel your exact emotions Did you know that human beings can actually feel the other person’s presence when he has something material to look at? In this case, your handwriting. It really does not matter how good or bad your writing is. What matters is that you took the time to pen down a passionate hand written love letter to your boyfriend.

Get into the mood when writing the letter: Put on a hot costume, climb into the bed, sprinkle perfume, and get into the right mood. Read the rest of this entry »

(source: wiki.answers.com)

There have been two winter Olympic games held in Japan.

In the winter Olympics in Nagano in 1998, US women won four gold medals. Three individual gold medals and a team gold for the ice hockey.

The total of gold medals won by Americans was six. US men won two.

The US women won only two gold medals in the Winter Olympics held in Japan. Winter Olympics were held in Japan’s Sapporo city in the year 1972.

Dianne Holum was one of the winners. She won the golds in the speed skate event. Anne Henning was another athlete who won a gold in the same event. Holum won gold in 1500 meter event and it was a record for Olympics, but she finished sixth in 1000 meter race and also folded up her Olympic career.

Anne Henning won the gold medal in 500 meter speed skating. At the race she was obstructed by Sylvia Burka, but she still was able to set the fastest time record. But she was allowed to repeat the event and she improved her time even further. At the age of 16, Henning became the youngest speed skating champion in the Olympic history.

The explanation of radioactive decay begins with a description of the atom. Atoms are made up of three subatomic particles: protons, neutrons, and electrons. The protons and neutrons are packed together in the nucleus at the center of the atom (see Figure 1). The electrons orbit the nucleus. The number of protons in the nucleus determines what material (element) the atom is. For example, if the nucleus contains 8 protons, the atom is oxygen. If the nucleus contains 17 protons, the atom is chlorine. Read the rest of this entry »

How do you know fake or real diamond

How do you know fake or real diamond?
(source: nationaljewelerssupplies.com/diamonds-real-or-fake.html)

How do you know fake or real diamond.

How do you know fake or real diamond.

Buying a diamond for the first time is a very personal and exciting experience. Hands down, the first thing on the mind of the buyer will be: How can I know I am buying the real thing and not a fake?

If you have been given a beautiful diamond or heirloom and you want to be absolutely sure that your diamond is real, get a professional appraisal. This can be done by looking under “Jewelry” (Appraisal) found in your yellow pages. Call to inquire about their services and ask these two important questions:

1. Will I be able to accompany my jewelry at all times or will you take my jewelry to evaluate elsewhere? If they say they will need to separate your jewelry from you at any point, it would be wise to find another appraiser.
2. What is the fee? ($50.00-$75.00 is considered a good fee.)

If a professional appraisal is not within your limited budget, here are some other methods.

1. If you have access to a diamond tester, you can test for diamonds vs. simulants. (Beware, moissanite is the only stone than can fool the electronic diamond tester.)
2. The transparency test. Flip your diamond upside down and place it over some newsprint. If you can clearly read through the stone, it’s not a diamond. (Beware, some low cut diamonds or stones such as emeralds can be read through.)
3. The fog test. Put your diamond in front of your mouth and fog it like you would fog a mirror. If it stays fogged for 2-4 seconds, it’s a fake. A real diamond will disperse the heat instantaneously so by the time you look at it, it has already cleared up. Oil and dirt on the stone can affect reliability and the test is not accurate at all on doublets where the top of the stone is diamond and the bottom is cubic zirconia glued together.
4. Test for weight. The most popular diamond simulant (fake) is a cubic zirconia. C.Z.’s will weigh approximately 55% more than diamonds for the same shape and size. Use a carat or gram scale to see if the impostor tips the scales too much.
5. The U.V. test. Many diamonds will show fluorescence of blue if put under an ultra violet light or black light. 99% of all fakes don’t do this; so, a positive identification of medium to strong blue would indicate a diamond. Diamonds with blue fluorescence can be as much as 20% less valuable; however, lack of blue fluorescence doesn’t mean it’s a fake; it could be a better quality diamond.
6. The under the loop test. With a magnifying lens, there are some things you can look for on the stone that might give away its identity:
1. Look at your diamond from the top and see how the facets (the cuts on top of the diamond) are joined. They should be sharp but not rolled.
2. Is the girdle faceted or frosty (yes, then it’s a diamond) or waxy and slick (yes, then it’s a fake.)
3. Under magnification, look into your diamond for flaws (carbon, pinpoints, small cracks.) It’s very hard to put inclusions into a fake.
4. Look at the stamps inside the setting. A stamp of “10K, 14K, 18K, 585, 750, 900, 950, PT, Plat” indicates the setting is real gold or platinum. This gives a better chance that the stone in it is real as well. Look for any “C.Z.” stamps. This will tell you the center stone is not a diamond.

How much does paper weigh?
(source: paper-paper.com)

In an effort to help eliminate the “Paper Weight” confusion problem,
we have compiled the comprehensive table listed below.
Now you can compare various types of paper and their “Equivalent Weights.”

  • Basis Weight
The basis weight of a paper is the designated fixed weight of 500 sheets,
measured in pounds, in that paper’s basic sheet size.
It is important to note that the “basic sheet size” is not the same
    for all types of paper.
  • Caliper
Caliper refers to the thickness of a sheet of paper expressed
in thousandth of an inch. This measurement is taken with a micro meter.
Normally, paper caliper should not have more than a + or – 5% variance
within a sheet. Generally, the relation between caliper and basis weight ….
the greater the caliper (the thicker the paper), the greater the paper weight.
  • Equivalent Weight
While different paper types have different basic sizes,
papers can still be compared by using equivalent weight.

Many people wonder how a deck of cards can tell us anything, but as we study the cards we realize that they go way beyond the pictures that we see. As we use the cards we gain a greater understanding of ourselves and the world around us. They represent journeys that each of us must take and lessons we need to learn and master while we are on the earth plane.

In most cases the tarot is viewed as a tool for divination. With a normal reading we have someone who seeks information and answers, usually personal questions; and then a reader who knows how to interpret the cards.

A typical reading begins as the person seeking answers shuffles the deck, lays them down on … Read the rest of this entry »

Why do bubbles burst so easily

Why do bubbles burst so easily?

Why do bubbles burst so easily?

Why do bubbles burst so easily?
(source: questacon.edu.au)

There are a few things that may affect how well your bubble mix works.

Bubble mix gets better with age. With time, some water may evaporate from the bubble mix and it may need more water added.

Humidity can seriously affect your bubbles. Bubbles burst when they dry out, so the more humid it is the longer they last. Bubbles work best at night, in the shade and while it is raining. Air conditioners can dry the air which bursts bubbles faster.

The quality of the tap water in your area may also affect your bubble mixture. Hard water doesn’t work as well as soft water. You may need to try distilled water instead of tap water.

You may need to “fine-tune” your bubble mix, either by adding more detergent or more water. Experiment a little. Remember to stir thoroughly.

Froth on the top can interfere with making bubbles.

How much do celebrities weigh?
(source: weight-loss-story.blogspot.com)

I’m sorry, but I can in now way believe that Mariah Carey weighs a mere 107. That is absolutely impossible. She is like an amazon woman! Kate Moss, who is at least three inches shorter than her and is waif thin is listed at 105. There is no way that Ms. Carey only weight two pounds more.

i agree with Kate. there is no way this is accurate. no way is mariah’s waist 22 inches either.

I found this extremely fascinating since my daughter and I are alway watching our weight and at this point we seem to be on par with the stars in the range of 102 lbs (my daughter) and 110 lbs (myself). But there were some weight results which I just can’t see as an avid t.v. watcher on E and other channels that people like Drew Barrymore, Mariah Carey, Sally Field for instance I can’t imagine that they weigh as little as they do and weigh less than skinny stars like Heather Locklear, Teri Hatcher, Mia Farrow, Cher. 98 lbs for Drew, unless she is on her way to being annorexic (God forbid!) is more underweight than most underweight people! And yet when you see her on the screen she looks great and is far from being overweight but come on now! 98 lbs???? Lets get real!

Do celebrities lie about their weight? The short answer is a resounding yes. We can’t really prove it without forcefully getting them on a weight scale but there is no doubt that many celebrities lie about their weight.

Someone made a comment here about Kirstie Alley where we wondered if she was telling the truth about losing 75 pounds and weighing less than 150 pounds. If Kirstie was five feet tall, this would be believable, but she is somewhere between 5′7 and 5′8. If you see her on the Oprah video here, and have a look at her legs, you too would probably doubt she is telling the truth.

If you missed the official application deadline for the next season, but want to participate (and if you are a citizen of the USA — the producers still haven’t changed their rule that, “No Canadians or other ‘foreigners’ need apply”, and I don’t make the rules), I’d send in an application anyway: many of the cast members in previous seasons of the race have been selected outside the publicly-announced applications and auditions, and some applications have been held over from one season to another.

(source: psychics.co.uk)

At first glance the tarot seems hard to understand. Unfortunately few Tarot books explain it simply. They overload the novice with too much information: astrology, psychology, symbolism, numerology, Quabala etc. But the cards were first designed when most of the population were illiterate. Much of the knowledge was passed down by Romany oral traditions. (Did you know that recently Michael Caine acknowledged his Gypsy blood- joining Charlie Chaplin and Bob Hoskins as Gypsy film stars?)

In essence the tarot cards meanings are only triggers to your own intuition. Some of the best readers I’ve met don’t understand the history and complex mystical traditions and symbolism of tarot cards. They intuitively grasp the hidden meanings of the Tarot cards – and this is what the ancient inventors intended.

And this is how I’ll teach you to work: with Traditional Tarot Card Meanings but also Intuitive Tarot Card Meanings. You can read about the detailed meanings of Tarot Cards at your leisure once you know these basics. Read the rest of this entry »

Cats can be very hard to draw because of their complex markings and varied poses. Often a thin cat will look very fat when sitting (which is why famous author James Thurber once wrote, “cats sit fat and walk thin”). Sometimes when you try to add the body and legs, it just doesn’t look quite right.

But we believe that drawing a cat can be pretty easy if you break it down into some simple steps. If you have a cat of your own, watch it when it’s sleeping or sitting and try to think of the body position in shapes such as circles or ovals. Once you can take a hard-to-draw shape and think of it more simply, you’re on your way to being a better artist.

Step 1 — Yup, just a circle.

How do I find who owns a telephone number?

how do i find who owns a telephone number?

The telephone number that you dial to call somebody is basically an address, similar to the IP address of a computer or the street address of your home. The length of the telephone number varies depending on the country you are calling. In many European countries, phone numbers are variable in length, ranging from just five or six digits in small towns to ten or more in large cities.

In the United States, phone numbers are fixed-length, with a total of 10 digits. The 3-3-4 scheme, developed by AT&T in 1947, uses three blocks of numbers arranged in two blocks of three and a single block of four digits.

Area code – Regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), area codes are used to designate a specific geographic region, such as a city or part of a state. In the example of HowStuffWorks, the geographic location is the middle section of the state of North Carolina.

Prefix – The prefix originally referred to the specific switch that a phone line connected to. Each switch at a phone carrier’s central office had a unique three-digit number. With the arrival of computerized switches, many systems now allow local number portability (LNP). This means that a customer’s phone number can be moved to another switch without having to change any part of it, including the prefix, as long as the customer does not move out of the local-rate area. For example, HowStuffWorks moved into new offices in the summer of 2000, but our main phone number did not change. Therefore, our prefix of 882 is not on a specific 882 switch anymore, but our telephone-service provider, Intermedia Communications Incorporated (ICI), is using LNP so that we did not have to change our number. How do earthquakes form

How do earthquakes form?

How do earthquakes form?

Stress in the earth’s outer layer cause a pushing effect against the sides of the fault. Due to this motion, rocks slip or collide against each other releasing energy. This released energy travels in waves through the earth’s crust and causes the shaking that we feel during an earthquake.

Under the surface of the earth, the two sides of a fault are constantly moving, relative to one another. This movement is known as a fault slip. The movement of these two sides is not smooth and is accompanied by a gradual build-up of elastic strain energy within the rocks along the fault.

Eventually, the strain along the fault becomes too much. The fault then ruptures with a sudden movement releasing all the energy it has built up. This energy is released in the form of vibrations called ’seismic waves’.

These waves travel along the surface and through the earth at varying speeds depending on the material through which they move. It is actually these seismic waves that cause most of the destructive effects, which we associate with earthquakes. Read the rest of this entry »

How do plants reproduce

How do plants reproduce?

How do plants reproduce?

How do plants reproduce?

Most plants make seeds. Some plants put stickers on their seeds to make them stick to animals and humans. That’s one way they travel. Some other seeds are light, and have an aero-dynamic shape. This helps them to move through the wind. Alot of plants grow with seeds in them so that when a bird, or other animal eats the fruit, the seeds don’t digest, and they come out sometime later. They can also be replanted into other plants to get fertilized by bees.

The female part of the plant produces a egg. Then the male part of the plant pollinates the egg and there for reproduces.  For instance, most plants are capable of vegetative reproduction—reproduction without seeds or spores—but can also reproduce sexually.

Organisms that reproduce through asexual reproduction tend to grow in number exponentially. However, because they rely on mutation for variations in their DNA, all members of the species have similar vulnerabilities. Organisms that reproduce sexually yield a smaller number of offspring, but the large amount of variation in their genes makes them less susceptible to disease.

Many organisms can reproduce sexually as well as asexually.  Plants can be both.

How long do butterflies live

How long do butterflies live?

How long do butterflies live?

How long do butterflies live?

Winged adults of many (and perhaps most) species live only a week or two, and that the male tends to live a few days less than the female. However, in some species, the adult life span of some generations may be much longer. For example, in some species, adults that emerge in late summer or early fall hibernate overwinteri in a sheltered spot. Also fall-hatched monarch butterflies migrate south in fall and northward in spring. Adults of these species may survive for 8-9 months or longer.

Total life span includes time spent in the larval and pupal stages, as well as the adult stage. Each species description in Butterflies and Moths of North America includes the number of annual “flights” for that species. A flight is a generation of adults. Thus, if a species has “two flights from May through September” it means that one generation will emerge from the pupal stage in spring and a second in summer. Actual months of emergence depend on latitude. Life spans of these two generations will be very different depending upon the species’ strategy for getting through the winter.

If the spring flight comes from eggs that were laid in fall by the previous year’s summer flight, the total life span for the spring flight is 10-11 months. Eggs laid in May/June by those adults develop much more rapidly, due to higher temperatures, and adults emerge in about 2-3 months, resulting in a total life span of 3½-4 months for the summer flight, or less than half that of the spring flight. However, if the species is one in which adults of the summer flight overwinter, then the spring flight develops from eggs laid in spring, and in this case the summer flight is the longer-lived generation.

If you get habituated to cocaine, you tend to become addicted to it in the long run. You reach a point where you cannot live a day without taking cocaine. Such a habit forming and addictive drug is cocaine. It’s very similar to alcohol.

If taken in small amounts it can produce a comfort and calm state, also relaxing of muscles. Larger doses can cause a slurring of speech, staggered gait and an altered perception. Very large doses can cause a decrease in respirations, coma or death. In combination cocaine , alcohol and depressants can multiply the effects of both which would increase risk. It can be taken into the body by snorting, smoking, injection or oral using up with the same effect. The substance is a white crystalline powder usually mixed with other substances such as corn starch, powdered milk, sugars or flour.

If you use cocaine once it will stay in your system for different time in different organs.

A number of factors can affect these figures, such as the strength and quantity you consume; how often you use and what other drugs you use; your tolerance; and your sex, age, health and metabolism. These factors can all interact in such a way that it is difficult to predict an accurate elimination time.

Why does the leaning tower of pisa lean?
(source: blurtit.com)
The Tower at Pisa has been leaning since the early days of its construction. It had only reached a height of 10 metres when the foundations started to slip. Atempts were made to correct this but the structure was completed as a leaning tower in 1350, about 175 years after the work had first started.

North Italy has a number of leaning towers but most of them started leaning quite a while after they were built, so the one at Pisa is unique.

The tower is made from white marble and is nearly 56 metres high and has 8 storeys, each containing 8 bells that sound a different note on the musical scale. It used to be possible, until relatively recently, to climb to the top of the leaning tower of Pisa and look at the view below. This was a strange experience as the tower does lean over at quite a sharp angle. For safety reasons, this is now not allowed.

How much does britney spears weigh

How much does britney spears weigh?

How much does britney spears weigh?

In America the only things we love more than the absurd status of our celebrities are the rare chances we get to viciously throw them from the pedestals we have created. We love assisting in the creation of famous people by tuning into their shows or buying their albums, but we would much rather watch, pleasantly aghast, as our idols plunge from the summit of adoration into our on looking base-camp below. In essence, we actually like Wilson Philips better now as the punch line to a bad joke than we ever did when they were producing quality, if dangerously overweight, pop-rock in the early 90s – which may explain the amount of press being given to Britney Spears’ current pop-star high dive. The girl is in absolute freefall and people can’t get enough.

Even one year ago Britney’s name was being batted around as the heir to Madonna’s throne as the “queen of pop.” At that point she had a fourth platinum selling record and a hit single, “Toxic,” mistaken in some sections of Russia as referring to the country’s troubled relationship with nuclear energy. Actually about a semi-abusive love affair, “Toxic” was a huge success and seemed to reflect her development as an artist and the continuing evolution of her sound. We didn’t know if she was a girl or a woman, but whatever she was we loved her. But then it all went to hell. Or more accurately … Louisiana.

As nearly as anyone can tell Britney began playing Russian roulette with her career last year when she married a childhood friend for a period of 36 hours in Las Vegas. While this was incredible promotional material for a city that prides itself on proving that anything can and does happen, it was a solid body blow to her image.

Britney had an image predicated on the assumption of un-attainability. Record executives knew that average guys assumed we could never have her, but, just like stopping for a pretty girl in a crosswalk, we would buy her records as a thank you for being so out of our league. Good plan, unless the star around which this image has been constructed goes and does something stupid like marry a farm boy from Louisiana whose resume includes things like “playing high school football” and “denying domestic abuse charges.”

Average guys everywhere thought, “Hey, I’m no catch. But look at this guy. At least I don’t work at Chick-Fil-A.” The marriage got average guys thinking and when average guys think it’s never good for anyone in marketing. And just like that, the Britney bubble popped; in record time she went from jailbait fantasy to divorcee of questionable virtue.

In typical fashion Britney attempted to divert attention from the controversy by releasing a greatest hits album. A pretty standard move (see attached graph: release dates of Michael Jackson Greatest Hits versus dates of molestation indictments) but she added an extra twist. Britney decided the best way to sell her Greatest Hits and make people forget about her domestically violent ex-husband was to cover a song by Bobby Brown, an artist who’s relationship with Whitney Houston has been featured on at least six episodes of Cops. And we weren’t buying it. The drama just wasn’t exciting anymore. Almost overnight Britney became way too normal to watch. Her whole scandal was not enough rock and roll and too much backwoods Louisiana soap opera: too little Hollywood and too much Waffle House.

We expect a lot of our celebrities when they make mistakes and Britney just didn’t deliver. If she had woken up in Tijuana with a vial of crack, a Los Lonely Boys sex tape from the previous evening and a nasty case of scabies we might have paid attention. But marrying a high school friend and then claiming they were stone sober when it happened is to rock and roll scandals what Hall and Oates were to rock and roll. Then in a desperate effort to prove that her life was not becoming some sick Redneck one-act, Britney got married again, put on 40 pounds and is now having a baby. Call me convinced.

I suppose we have to face the fact that we are enjoying this a little too much. All of it, the divorce, her drive-thru second marriage, and especially her hideous weight gain. In a recent issue US Weekly even tried to break the record for “pictures of one person eating Dairy Queen” in a smear article about Spears. It’s exactly this kind of thing that we should be ashamed of. We elevated her miles above ourselves and when she couldn’t handle it, she just jumped. Is that her fault? But as she comes crashing down towards the rest of us make sure to get out of the way. Someone could get hurt. Have you seen how big she’s gotten? Well, let me tell you …

How do hurricanes form?

How do hurricanes form?
(article by: the American Red Cross)
Tropical storm and hurricane prediction probably never will be an exact science, but the reasons for storm formation are well understood by the scientific community. There are several elements that—when combined at the “right” amount of time and under the “right” conditions—will create a hurricane, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA).

The beginning of life for any hurricane is a pre-existing tropical disturbance—an area of low atmospheric pressure in the air over the tropical Atlantic Ocean near Carribean islands, such as Bermuda and the Bahamas.

The warmth and moisture of the ocean during late summer and early fall months (when ocean waters reach their highest temperatures) energizes the pre-storm conditions and leads to thunderstorms.

If thunderstorms persist and winds pick up to 40 miles per hour, the tropical disturbance officially becomes a tropical storm. At this point, the National Hurricane Center names the storm, working from a pre-determined list of names that is recycled every six years. Meteorologists all over the country know to keep a close eye on the now-named storm, although many tropical storms weaken and die before becoming hurricanes. Read the rest of this entry »

Many hotels in Havana also add Angostura bitters to cut the sweetness of the mojito; while a popular variation, it is not the original version created in La Bodeguita del Medio

When preparing a mojito, lime juice is added to sugar (or syrup) and mint leaves. The mixture is then gently mashed with a muddler. The mint leaves should only be bruised to release the essential oils and must not be shredded. Then rum is added and the mixture is briefly stirred to dissolve the sugar and to lift the mint sprigs up from the bottom for better presentation. Finally, the drink is topped with ice cubes and sparkling water, and mint leaves and lime wedges are used to garnish the glass.

The mojito is one of the more famous rum-based highballs in the world. There are several different versions of the mojito.

Why do we celebrate veterans day?

Veterans Day honors men and women who have served in the United States armed services. Veterans Day is a legal federal holiday in the United States. It is celebrated on November 11th. The United Kingdom celebrates November 11 as Armistice Day. It is not a legal holiday, but special observances celebrate the armistice that ended World War I on Nov. 11, 1918. Canada has a legal holiday called Remembrance Day that is celebrated on November 11. Veterans Day celebrations in the United States include parades and speeches. Special services are held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, on Veterans Day.

In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11 as Armistice Day to remind Americans of the tragedies of war. A 1938 law made the day a federal holiday. In 1954, Congress changed the holiday’s name to Veterans Day to honor all United States veterans.

Why do earthquakes happen

Why do earthquakes happen?

Why do earthquakes happen?

Why do earthquakes happen
Earthquakes are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault. This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves that make the ground shake. When two blocks of rock or two plates are rubbing against each other, they stick a little. They don’t just slide smoothly; the rocks catch on each other. The rocks are still pushing against each other, but not moving. After a while, the rocks break because of all the pressure that’s built up. When the rocks break, the earthquake occurs. During the earthquake and afterward, the plates or blocks of rock start moving, and they continue to move until they get stuck again. The spot underground where the rock breaks is called the focus of the earthquake. The place right above the focus (on top of the ground) is called the epicenter of the earthquake. How long do flies live

How long do flies live?

How long do flies live?

How long do flies live?

The whole life cycle from egg to adult may be completed in 8-20 days depending on ambient temperature and a new generation may be started anywhere from 2-20 days later. Under favourable conditions the eggs hatch in 8-30 hours and larval development through three instars is completed in 5-14 days. Pupation occurs over 3-10 days and the pre-oviposition period ranges from 2-23 days. So how long do flies live? Adults may live from 19-70 days. Some 10-12 generations can be completed during the warmer months. A typical life cycle in summer is depicted opposite.

The house fly, Musca domestica Linnaeus, is a well-known cosmopolitan pest of both farm and home. This species is always found in association with humans or activities of humans. It is the most common species found on hog and poultry farms, horse stables and ranches. Not only are house flies a nuisance, but they can also transport disease-causing organisms. Excessive fly populations are not only an irritant to farm workers but, when there are nearby human habitations, a public health problem could occur.

This common fly originated on the steppes of central Asia, but now occurs on all inhabited continents, in all climates from tropical to temperate, and in a variety of environments ranging from rural to urban. It is commonly associated with animal feces, but has adapted well to feeding on garbage, so it is abundant almost anywhere people live.

How does a flash drive work

How does a flash drive work?

How does a flash drive work?

How does a flash drive work?

As per thetravelinsider.com, if you’re traveling and your laptop becomes lost or broken, what would you do if you had a vital Powerpoint presentation trapped on its hard drive?

Or if you want to conveniently take some files from the office to home, work on them, and then return them? How would you do that?

Traditionally, all computers had floppy disk drives, and their 1.44MB capacity was more than enough to handle any reasonable type of file you’d ever need to transfer. These days, many new computers don’t have any floppy drive at all.

As programs and files became larger, CDroms – a technology that almost died as a non-mainstream curiosity and which Bill Gates championed – became more common and now are almost universal. CDrom writers also became more common, and transferring larger files was commonly done by burning them to a CDrom.

Various other technologies, such as Iomega’s Zip (100-250MB) and Jaz (1-2GB) drives, also briefly appeared and then disappeared again.

Flash forward to the present day. Few computers even have a floppy disk drive. While most computers have CDroms, not all have CD burners, and even though the cost of single use CDs has dropped down to less than 50c each, the technology to write onto them is cumbersome and slow. A newer technology – DVDrom – is appearing; happily DVDrom drives usually read CDroms too.

A new type of universal data storage format was/is needed. Increasingly it seems that the USB flash drive might be exactly what is now needed.

What is so special about USB Flash Drives

A USB flash drive is very simple. Basically, it is built around a memory chip. But unlike regular computer memory, which is dynamic, this is static memory. Dynamic memory needs to have a continuous flow of power to keep the information alive. Static memory does not need any power to remember the information it is holding, and it is estimated that information stored on a flash drive can last up to ten years.

Because the USB flash drive is basically just an intelligent static memory chip, it needs no battery and has no moving parts. This makes it much more convenient than any type of storage that needs power, much more robust than any sort of disk, and generally more reliable every which way.

A USB drive simply plugs into a computer’s USB port. And, yes, I do mean simply. If you’re running Windows 2000, Windows XP or Vista, the operating system will automatically recognize is as another disk drive, and immediately give you full read and write access to it.

This means you don’t need to load any software to make it work. You simply plug it in, and it is automatically available to be used. What could be simpler than that? This makes the drives brilliantly simple and foolproof to use.

What are the names of tarot cards

What are the names of tarot cards?

What are the names of tarot cards?

What are the names of tarot cards?

A common question is, “What are the names of Tarot cards?” Even though it seems to be a straight-forward thing to ask, the answer can be a little more complex. The questions itself is better slit into two different inquiries: 1) What are the names of Tarot cards in the Minor Arcana?, and 2) What are the names of Tarot cards in the Major Arcana? Together, these two sets contain all 78 cards of the commonly used tarot deck, as we are about to examine.

What are the names of Tarot cards in the Minor Arcana? This is the portion of the deck which is most closely related to regular playing cards. There are 4 suits, Cups, Wands, Swords, and Pentacles, and each suit contains 14 cards. What are the names of tarot cards in each suit? They are numbered, starting at one: Ace(one), Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten. After the tenth one, names are assigned to the last four: Page, Knight, Queen, and King. In Tarot, each suit holds special meanings which are applied to interpretation. In time, and with practice, a reader learns these individual meanings and is able to apply them to any spread, extracting answers from their placement within that layout.

What are the names of Tarot cards in the Major Arcana? There are 22 cards in this part of the deck, all different. The Major Arcana does not have suits, although different meanings may be indicated by whether the card is dealt upright, or upside down. When counted, the Fool is card 0, and the counts goes up from there, from 0-21. The Fool, The Magician, the High Priestess, The Empress, and The Emperor are the first 5 cards. After these, the next five are The Hierophant, The Lovers, The Chariot, Strength, and The Hermit. The Wheel of Fortune, Justice, The Hanged Man, Death, and Temperance are cards 9-15 (Remember, The Fool was card 0, not 1!). Following those, The Devil, The Tower, The Star, The Moon, and The Sun are listed. And finally, the last two are Judgment (which can also be Rejuvenation), and The World. It will be important that any potential Tarot reader understand these, as their meanings are crucial to understanding the divination of such a reading.

Katherine Heiden is a professional tarot card reader and clairvoyant. Her new guide Learn Tarot Cards is a great resource for beginners and experts alike, and includes many bonus guides showing you how to take your hobby of doing tarot card readings and turn it into a career.

With the release of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” in 1937, Walt Disney carved for himself an indelible place in history and in the hearts of movie lovers for more than half a century. The film was Disney’s first full length feature production, as well as the reason for his 1939 receipt of an Honorary Academy Award for significant screen innovation. Although not his first Oscar, this special award was unique in one particular respect: Disney received not just the one traditional statuette, but also seven miniature statuettes. According to wikipedia.org the United States presidential election of 2008, scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, 2008, will be the 56th consecutive quadrennial United States presidential election and will select the President of the United States and Vice President of the United States. The two major parties’ candidates have not been officially chosen, but their presumptive nominees are John McCain, the senior United States Senator from Arizona, for the Republican Party and Barack Obama, the junior United States Senator from Illinois, for the Democratic Party. The 2008 election is particularly notable because it is the first time in US history that two sitting senators will run against each other for president[1] and because it will be the first time an African American will be a major party presidential nominee.

The Libertarian Party has nominated former Congressman Bob Barr, the Constitution Party has nominated pastor and radio talk show host Chuck Baldwin, and the Green Party has nominated former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney. Ralph Nader declined to seek the Green Party nomination and is running as an independent candidate. Read the rest of this entry »

What signs are compatible with scorpio

what signs are compatible with scorpio?

what signs are compatible with scorpio?

What signs are compatible with scorpio?

Scorpio, Cancer, Virgo, Capricorn, Pisces

Many things in the birth chart offer insight into compatibility and romance, and a person’s “sign” is not the only contributing factor.   I’ve provided the following list of signs which have traditionally been considered to be harmonious or inharmonious. Whether you are compatible with your same sign (for example, Aries with Aries) depends on how much you like yourself, since they’ll share many of your traits, including the undesirable ones. Whether you can get along with your opposite sign (for example, Aries with Libra) depends on whether the two of you can allow each other to be opposites, rather than insisting your partner be more like you.

Determined Scorpio can be rather stubborn and resistant to imposed changes. In many ways this is a plus, for it gives you the stamina to accomplish things in life, due to your tenacity. On the surface you may seem easy-going, congenial, and gregarious, but you are also extremely tenacious with a need to manipulate and control your situations.

Keys to your success are a strong will and the ability to get to the bottom of things. You want answers and will doggedly persist until you get them.

The fiery energy of Mars shines out when you are enthusiastic; it attracts and inspires others. Your intensity can be overwhelming, but also subtle, for your considerable energy is not aroused or employed just to have something to do — as is often the case with Aries, the other Mars-ruled personality. Unlike Aries, Scorpio is not openly combative, unless it becomes necessary. Your privacy is tightly protected, so others only get to know you up to a point. You may not show any sign of inner struggle, but when you are after something (or someone) your determination is fierce — and should you not be favoured in the outcome, you are neither a willing nor a gracious loser. Nevertheless, you are not arrogant, being genuinely interested in others and what they have to say, although you often exhibit a self-sufficiency which implies there isn’t much you don’t already know.

Although you hear it’s 34-24-36….this is not true. These numbers came from a song that was popular in the 80’s from men and means absolutely nothing. This also depends on what you call a good shape.  J-Lo’s and Beyonce’s hips are bigger where slim and tall super models are less.

BEYONCE would have been a circus performer if she hadn’t hit the big time with DESTINY’S CHILD.

The 23-year-old beauty, renowned for her bottom-shaking, says the secret lies in her double-jointed hips and back, but her freaky talents don’t stop there.

She explains, “My back and my hips are double-jointed and I can vibrate my eyes and move my ears as well. I can do a lot of freaky things. I can do all those things at once. I’m like a circus performer.”

What are the side effects of gabapentin?

What are the side effects of gabapentin?

Gabapentin side effects, if they occur, are typically minor and easily treated. Commonly reported ones include dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, and problems with coordination. Some side effects of gabapentin, however, are potentially serious and may require prompt medical attention. This includes signs of an allergic reaction and significant coordination problems that do not improve with time.

Gabapentin has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials. In these studies, the side effects that occur in a group of people taking the drug are documented and compared to side effects that occur in another group of people not taking the drug. This way, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine.

In these studies, the most common side effects of gabapentin included:

* Dizziness — in up to 28 percent of people
* Drowsiness — up to 21.4 percent
* Coordination problems — up to 12.5 percent
* Infections — up to 10.9 percent
* Fever — up to 10.1 percent
* Nausea or vomiting — up to 8.4 percent
* Swelling or fluid retention in the legs, feet, arms, or hands — up to 8.3 percent
* Unusual eye movements — up to 8.3 percent.

what are the banks responsibility

What are the banks responsibility?

What are the banks responsibility?

The bank is the customer’s agent in collecting the check. Unless the check is drawn on the depositary bank, the depositary bank incurs no liability to its duped customer. One of the most basic tenets of the UCC is that “he who deals most directly with the perpetrator of a fraud is in the best position to have prevented it, and will be accountable for the loss.” Of course, if the funds have already gone “out the door,” the depositary bank MAY write off an overdraft. But that does not change the depositor’s responsibility for the item. The depository bank is responsible for notifying its customer of the dishonor of the bogus check in a notice delivered (mailed/telephoned/faxed) by the close of the business day next after the business day on which the bank learns of the dishonor.

If someone has written me a bad check my bank is in no position to tell me not to take it. Any responsibility to verfiy the authenticity of the item or the sufficiency of the funds to pay it is on me. Read the rest of this entry »

What ingredients are in ultra dawn soap

What ingredients are in ultra dawn soap?

What ingredients are in ultra dawn soap?

What ingredients are in ultra dawn soap?

According to ePinions, the ingredients in original Dawn are: “water, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium pareth-23, sulfate C-12-14-16, dimethyl amine oxide, SD alcohol, undeceth-9, propylene glycol, cyclohexandiamine, polyacetate, protease, fragrance, FD&C blue, no phosphate”

There are other ingredients in the product, but they are considered
proprietary information, and are held confidential:

“We introduced Dawn into a small area as a test in 1972. In 1976, Dawn
(in the original scent, clear blue color) hit stores nationwide. Dawn
has always been known for its superior grease cutting performance.

Ingredient information (other than what’s on the label) is
confidential.”

Can you wash your hair with it?

Sure you can! Look closely at the ingredient list, and you’ll see
that the basic formulation for Dawn is very similar to that of
ordinary shampoo. You’re already familiar with ingredients like
water, sodium lauryl sulfate (a surfactant), dimethlyamine oxide (a
non-ionic surfactant), SD alcohol (specially denatured alcohol, used
to make pouring easier), propylene glycol (a humectant), polyacetate
(a thickening agent, responsible for making the product feel
pleasant), fragrance and FD&C Blue from our previous discussions about
shampoo. These are all common shampoo ingredients!

What’s left? Emulsifiers and stabilizers like sodium pareth, sulfate
C12-14-16 and cyclohexandiamine, and protease (an enzyme which is
responsible for breaking down proteins and oils – this is one of the
ingredients that makes Dawn work so well for greasy dishes).

Should you wash your hair with it?

Well, that depends on what you intend to accomplish by washing your
hair with Dawn. If you’re involved in a grubby, oily job (like
working in a commercial kitchen), Dawn is just the thing for scrubbing
the day’s accumulation of grease out of your hair. I used Dawn to
wash my hair every day for three years during my sojourn in the fast
food industry – regular shampoo just wasn’t doing it for me, and one
of our grill cooks mentioned that he (and most of the rest of the
grill crew) used Dawn at the end of the day to get their hair clean.
I tried it, and found that not only was it effective, it was also
gentle. No brittleness, no breakage, and my hair was always clean,
soft and shiny. In later years, working for better restaurants, I was
amused to find that many chefs and line cooks still employed the Dawn
trick.

Is it gentle?

What’s stressful for you may be quite different from what’s stressful to your best friend, your spouse, or the person next door.

People react to stress in different ways. Once you identify your own signs of stress, they can serve as your personal early warning system.

What are the nicknames for marijuana?

There are over 200 nicknames for marijuana, including pot, herb, mary jane and chronic.

Smoking marijuana can relax a person and elevate their mood. Marijuana is usually smoked, using a pipe, a bong or by rolling a joint. Smoking marijuana can relax a person and elevate their mood. Other effects include heightened sensory awareness, euphoria, altered perceptions and feeling hungry (”the munchies”). Blunts are cigars that are emptied of tobacco and refilled with marijuana, sometimes in combination with other drugs. It can also be eaten in food, for example, by baking it in brownies.

The main active ingredient in marijuana is THC (delta 9 tetrhydrocannabinol). Marijuana can range from 1% THC to 8%. Hashish can be 7% to 14% THC and hash oil is up to 50% THC. THC is a fat soluble substance and can remain in the lungs and brain tissue for up to 3 weeks.

No one would argue that marijuana is as addictive as alcohol or cocaine. However, it’s wrong to say that it is not at all addictive. More and more studies are finding that marijuana has addictive properties. Both animal and human studies show physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms from marijuana, including irritability, restlessness, insomnia, nausea and intense dreams. Tolerance to marijuana also builds up rapidly. Heavy users need 8 times higher doses to get the same effects as infrequent users. For a small percentage of people who use it, marijuana can be highly addictive. It is estimated that 10% to 14% of users will become heavily dependent. More than 120,000 people in the US seek treatment for marijuana addiction every year. Because the consequences of marijuana use can be subtle and insidious, it is more difficult to recognize signs of addiction. Cultural and societal beliefs that marijuana cannot be addictive make it less likely for people to seek help or to get support for quitting.

Who is ahead in the election

who is ahead in the election

who is ahead in the election

Who is ahead in the election?

Voters are having a hard time making up their minds about the presidential candidates and it is showing up in the divergent results of the horse race polls. Unlike four years ago, at this point in the campaign the national polls provide little insight as to who will win the White House in November. The latest soundings from the major independent pollsters show no clear pattern.

Gallup’s new national poll found the registered voters it surveyed this past weekend backing George W Bush over Al Gore by a 48% to 41% margin. But a Newsweek poll taken at the same time found its voters evenly split 44% to 44%. Polls taken by ABC/WP, NBC/WSJ and Time/CNN also found the candidates with about equal levels of support in surveys taken since the decisive Super Tuesday primaries. But, CBS and Marist surveys agreed with Gallup in giving Bush a small- but – significant, lead. A Pew Research Center survey disagreed with all of the above in showing Gore ahead 49% to 43%.

If history is any guide, these conflicting spring polls will mostly comport with one another in the all as Election Day nears. But for now their lack of congruence suggests that the American public is having trouble coming to an early judgement about the candidates. This was not so in the spring of 1996, when the leading survey organizations all had Bill Clinton ahead of Bob Dole by large and almost identical margins. The President’s lead was 9-14 percentage points (see chart). Clinton’s winning margin over Dole in November was a more modest 8 points, but these early polls pointed to the electorate’s decided preference for re-electing Clinton.

Poll results will vary more by survey organization when the public lacks certainty about the candidates. With no incumbent and with candidates who have strong appeal mostly to members of their own parties, there is little basis for voter conviction . And the primaries made a difference in this campaign. In 1999 voters were expressing a clear preference for George W Bush. Nationwide surveys consistently found the Texas Governor leading the Vice President by double digit margins. But this year Bush paid a price for his primary victories by losing support among Independents, who were strong backers of his opponent, John Mc-Cain. Al Gore on the other hand came out of the primaries stronger than he went in. He consolidated his support among Democrats by defeating challenger Bill Bradley, and at least for now has picked up the support of Independents who are no longer so high on George W Bush.

It is Independents whose preferences are the key to every election outcome and especially to this one. They have gone back and forth between Gore and Bush. Independents like Gore on most issues, but have doubts about his character and links to the Clinton scandals. While Bush is seen as more candid and likely to change the moral tone of Washington, many swing voters have come to dislike him personally, and there are worries about whether he is truly a compassionate conservative.

Despite their doubts and disappointment over Mc Cain’s departure from the race, there is little likelihood, that probable Reform party candidate Pat Buchanan will make many inroads with Independent voters. Recent surveys by Pew, and Gallup found only 6% of voters saying they would choose him in a three way match up. A vote for Buchanan is not even a remote possibility for most voters. Two in three say there is no way they would consider casting a ballot for the former White House speech writer, when asked by both Gallup and Pew.

Given these candidates, and barring a material change in national conditions, there is little to suggest that either Bush or Gore will become the clear frontrunner, until much later in the game, if not until Election Day itself!

Note: This is a special poll analysis by Andrew Kohut which orginally appeared on America Online Politic’s Page (April 14-16, 2000).

Forbes is reporting that Warren Buffett is the richest man on the planet and far ahead of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, who was the richest man in the world for 13 straight years. Earlier reports had appeared in media speculating that world’s richest person was Carlos Slim Helu (now second richest) and Mukesh Ambani (now 5th richest).

Gates is now worth $58 billion and is ranked third in the world. He is up $2 billion from a year ago, but would have been perhaps as rich–or richer–than Buffett had Microsoft not made an unsolicited bid for Yahoo!

The war of Internet giants is not over yet… and Bill Gates can comeback.

How do millionaires spend their money? They go to the Millionaire Fairs, buy luxury laptops, get premium email service, gift million dollar bills, drive big cars, donate to charity, stay in the best hotels and even get famous in second life.

Who is George Mitchell?

Former Senate Democratic leader George Mitchell, who has been probing the use of steroids in Major League Baseball, will issue his highly anticipated report Thursday, officials say.

The steroid investigation isn’t just a steroid investigation, says former Senate majority leader George Mitchell, the chief investigator into the use of performance-enhancing drugs in Major League Baseball. And don’t think his long-awaited report will be just a review of past abuses.

“It will not just look backward to see what has happened — I hope to assist everyone in baseball to look forward in a constructive way,” Mitchell says. “To learn from the past and improve the situation and make less likely the use of these substances in the future.”

Cheaters, he contends, are getting better at cheating.

“Yes, of course, that’s part of the difficulty of the entire performance-enhancing substance situation,” Mitchell says in a rare interview. “For example, it’s commonly called a steroids investigation and when this problem first developed, steroids were used, but at least some of them remain in the body for some time and they are difficult to mask.”

Mitchell says drug manufacturers “began to develop other substances that aren’t detectable by other current testing methods. The most common one is the human growth hormone. So, of course, you’ve seen a shift to human growth hormone because it is not detectable by a urine test. Read the rest of this entry »

Who is the father of computers

who is the father of computers

Who is the father of computers?

Charles Babbage is known as the father of computers as he was the first person to come up with the idea of a programmable computer.

Born in 1791, he was an English mathematician, and tired of the high error rate in the calculation of mathematical tables, he wanted to find a way that they could be calculated mathematically thus removing any chance of human error.

He disliked untidiness and spurred on by this and earlier work carried out on calculating machines, he first mentioned the calculating machine in a letter in 1822.

His calculating engines were not actually completed due to funding problems and personality issues, but Babbage did prove that his machines could do the job of calculating better than any human and his steam powered devices more or less did the job correctly.

Babbage’s first “difference engine” consisted of 25,000 parts and had a weight of fifteen tons. Many of his uncompleted mechanisms are now on display in the science museum and they formed the basis of what was to develop into today’s computers.

who is mario lopez’s father

who is mario lopez's father

who is mario lopez's father

who is mario lopez’s father?

Who is Mario Lopez’s father is a simple question. His father is Ricardo López.

Mario Lopez Sr., Mario’s father, was born in Sinaloa , Mexico. Mario Sr., and his wife Elvia brought Mario Lopez Jr. into the world on October 10, 1973, in San Diego, California.

Mario Sr., worked very hard to provide a comfortable home and a healthy family environment for Mario Jr., his brother Emilio, born in 1975 and his sister Marissa born in 1976. Both of his parents were very supportive in anything the children chose to do. Mario’s dream, since being a young child, was to dance. Mario Sr., instilled into his children the value of hard work, and that with dedication, anything was possible.

It was while in dancing school, that Mario Lopez was noticed by a talent scout, and offered a role on the 1984 pilot of ‘a.k.a. Pablo’, when he was only 10 years old. The show did not last, but Mario Sr., encouraged his son not to give up. Mario would find his next popular role in ‘Saved by the Bell’. Mario Sr., could not have been any prouder of his son.

Mario Lopez Sr., was not a famous movie star who allowed his son to follow in his footsteps. He was simply a hard working father, who supported his son, and gave him the encouragement to prevail. Mario senior, knew only one thing, that hard work, was the way to succeed. That honesty and integrity, were keys to reaching your goals in life. He worked hard to instill this attitude into his children. Even more important for his siblings, he demonstrated this for them everyday of his life. He had no problem practicing what he preached. He was a natural role model. His upbringing did not allow for anything less.

He had raised in hard times. It was vital that everyone did their part in providing for the family. These type of values, those forged in times of desperation, that seem to last a lifetime, whereas those who are offered life on a silver platter tend to take their luxury for granted. Mario junior was able to receive these values from his father and apply them into his own life. Although Mario junior has a special love for his mother and all the support that she has given him, he has not ignored or forgotten the strength of his father. Read the rest of this entry »

Who is Alan Colmes wife?

Allan Colmes wife is Dr. Jocelyn Crowley.

In 1979, his first year in talk radio, Alan Colmes unintentionally changed national policy during the Iranian hostage crisis by calling the American Embassy and speaking to a “student” identified as “Z”. After that program, the US banned calls to Iran. During the ensuing years, Colmes spoke to luminaries like former President Bill Clinton and former President George H.W. Bush, and was stood up by the Reverend Al Sharpton at least four times. Colmes was the first media person to interview seduced secretary Jessica Hahn during the Jim Bakker scandal — he accomplished this by promising her a stretch limousine with color TV as her transport to and from the station, plus a sandwich from the Carnegie Deli.

He was the last person to speak on radio stations WNBC, WMCA and WEVD before each closed or changed its format. WNBC went off the air in 1988, WMCA was sold to a religious broadcaster shortly after Colmes began there, and WEVD was leased to Disney to cover its ESPN format.

Colmes found himself heard in a new and unwelcome (to him) format when rapper Chuck D of Public Enemy took an earlier interview with Colmes and sampled it in Fear of a Black Planet. He threatened to sue, but could not, because Colmes did not own his own words — the station did. He later stated in an interview that he and Chuck D “laugh about it”.

In October of 1996, Colmes moved to television as Sean Hannity’s co-host on Fox News’ eponymous Hannity and Colmes, where Colmes offers a centrist liberal counterpoint Fox News opposite the conservative Hannity. In 2003, while continuing with the TV show, Fox News brought Colmes back to radio with The Alan Colmes Show.

Who is lilith the demon goddess?

Lilith the Demon Goddess got her name because she is the hottest demon goddess known to mankind. With her long blond hair and ice blue eyes, Lilith the Demon Goddess is one sexy thing. If I were to ever have a conversation with her I would tell her how hot and beautiful she is, since she is a feminist goddess due to her rebellion against submission to man.

One of the most interesting goddesses I’ve come across in recent months is Lilith. Lilith is somewhat of a dark goddess. She is proclaimed to be an ideal goddess by feminists because of her rebellion against submission to man.

According to legend and Hebrew mythology, Lilith was the first Eve. God created the heavens and earth, animals, and people. It’s told that Adam and Lilith were created at the same time, as equals both from dust. One accounting of the legend records that Adam and Lilith were created as bi-sexual beings. Another accounting of the legend involves them existing in one body for a time. The most common legend has them as being created equally and sharing the same responsibilities in the garden. Who is Lorena Bobbit

Who is Lorena Bobbit?

Lorena Bobbit is that psycho who cut off her husband John Bobbit’s penis with a kitchen knife.

Lorena was taken into custody and charged with “malicious wounding”. After her arrest, she commented to police that “He always have orgasm and he doesn’t wait for me to have orgasm. He’s selfish.”

During the trial, the couple revealed details of their volatile relationship and the events leading up to the assault. Lorena stated that John sexually, physically, and emotionally abused her during their marriage. She also stated that John flaunted his infidelities, and forced her to have an abortion. Several witnesses provided testimony supporting Lorena’s claims. Lorena’s defense attorneys maintained that John’s constant abuse caused Lorena to eventually “snap” as she was suffering from clinical depression and a possible bout of post traumatic stress disorder due to the abuse.

John denied the allegations of abuse. However, when he was cross-examined, his statements often conflicted with known facts, severely weakening the prosecution’s case.

Who is Kristin Kreuk married to ?

Who is Kristin Kreuk married to ?

Who is Kristin Kreuk married to?

To our best of knowledge, Kristin Kreuk is married to Tom Welling. This is not official but it is a definite truth to the matter of fact.

Kristin Kreuk was born on December 30, 1982, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She attended and graduated from Eric Hamber High School. Although she did some stage work in school, she focused more on her studies. She described herself as shy and boring.

For her first professional work, she went to an open casting audition for Edgemont, a teen-drama series aired on CBC television in Canada. She plays the role of Laurel Yeung. Laurel was the last main character to be cast because the casting director was having a problem finding an actress. Fortunately for them (and us), they found Kristin just in time.

Her career was set to take off when she landed on the highly acclaimed WB television series, “Smallville” (2001). It follows the story of Clark Kent in his pre-Superman days in a small town of Smallville, Kansas. Kristin plays the role of Lana Lang, Clark Kent`s object of desire before he meets Lois Lane.

“Smallville” (2001) proved to be a giant step for Kristin`s acting career, as she landed several interviews with several magazines, including YM (Young and Modern) and Rolling Stone. She also did a commercial for Neutrogena, popular for its skin care products.

As Kristin continues her career in the entertainment industry, it is just a matter of time before she becomes a superstar as she has natural talents and diligence.

Who is tom petty married to?

Tom Petty is married to Dana York, whom he first met years earlier when she came to one of his concerts.

Petty, who says he maintains very few close friendships, also was crushed by the deaths of best buddy George Harrison in 2001 and Howie Epstein, who overdosed on heroin in 2003 shortly after being fired from The Heartbreakers.

Petty’s saving grace was Dana York, whom he married in 2001.

“She saved me from going down the tubes,” he says. “She got me to a good place where I did want to rejoin society and keep going. I’ve got a great girl, and she’s strong. It took a strong person to deal with me at that point.

“It got pretty dire. I had a lot of repair work to do with my family and children. I had to grow up in a lot of ways. If you do this all your life, you don’t have a normal experience. The rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle does not encourage you to be responsible. I’m still sorting it out, but I’m on better ground.”

His first marriage, to Jane Benyo, lasted 22 years. He spent most of those years working, on the road or in the studio. He has two daughters Adria & Annakim by that marriage. Since 2001 he has been married to Dana York, whom he first met years earlier when she came to one of his concerts.

In 1987, an arsonist set fire to Petty’s house in Encino, California. The fire caused $1 million in damage but firefighters were able to salvage the basement recording studio and the original tapes stored there, as well as his Gibson Dove acoustic guitar. Petty later rebuilt the house.

Who is on the 2 bill

Who is on the 2 bill

Who is on the 2 bill?

Former U.S. President Thomas Jefferson is featured on the 2 bill.  In spite of its relatively low value among the denominations of U.S. currency, the two-dollar bill is one of the most rarely seen in circulation and actual use. They are almost never given as change for commercial transactions, and thus consumers rarely have them on hand. Production of the note is quite low; approximately 1% of all notes currently produced are $2 bills.

The denomination of two dollars was first used by the United States federal government in July 1862.  Today, two-dollar bills are not frequently reissued in a new series like other denominations which are printed according to demand. When the Federal Reserve Banking System runs low on its current supply of $2 bills, it will submit an order to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing which will then print more. Demand for $2 bills is low enough that one printing can last for many years.

Who is Jack Johnson’s Wife

Who is Jack Johnson's Wife

Who is Jack Johnson’s wife?

Kim and Jack met nine years ago at UCSB in their first week on campus. Three years later, bare feet and all they married on the beach in Santa Barbara. Kim has her master’s in education from UCSB and, until recently, taught high school geometry.

Johnson drives with his head turned away from the highway, looking out at the Pacific. “There’s a great surf spot right there,” he says. “See how the waves are breaking?” He’s calm, doing fifty-five miles an hour, making all the curves, not even veering into the other lanes.

“Don’t worry,” Kim says. “He does this all the time.”

Johnson knows the road and the minivan so well because after Brushfire Fairytales came out, the band spent months driving around the country in the same Astro opening for Ben Harper, sometimes sleeping in it. “If I had to do my next tour like that,” he says, “I’d say forget it. But sometimes when you’re payin’ your dues, it doesn’t feel like that. There was work involved, but it was fun.”

Now, as he starts driving while looking at the highway, he confirms that his love is music, not the music business. “If it gets overwhelming, I won’t force myself,” he says. “I’ll just go back to makin’ surf movies and chillin’. We’re not trying to tour forever. I’ll always write and record. If companies don’t want to put it out, I’ll give it to friends, like before.”

why is education so important

Why is Education So ImportantThe reason why education is so important has alot to do with what you want to get out of life. Knowledge is everything, with out knowledge it can feel like walking in the dark. Eduction can come from books and life experiences. When knowledge comes from books you can learn without the real life’s results. For example if you learn in a class how to manage money, and the class has a course that you have a monthly budget to work with and with these monies you can play the market. You are doing get with your picks until one day before your bills are due, then the bottom drops out of the market, now you can cover all things in your bills in your budget. You may get a bad grade, but if you learn this lesson through a life experience you may not have a place to live! So that is why education is so important .

why is abortion badThe reason why abortion is bad has alot to do with how or what you believe in. The real question should focus on the fetus and the premise that a fetus has the same moral status as a child or adult – therefore, abortion is murder. Those who hold this viewpoint will agree that at some point the child growing in the womb of the mother becomes a human being. why is the ocean blue

why is the ocean blue

why is the ocean blue

The Reason why the ocean is blue has to do with the sunand how water absorbs more of the red light in sunlight. Sunlight is made up of all the following colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. Some of the sunlight is reflected off the surface of the water, reflecting the color of the sky. Some of the sunlight penetrates the water and is scattered by ripples and particles in the water (this tinges the appearance of the ocean with the color of the particles). In deep water, much of the sunlight is scattered by the oxygen in the water, and this scatters more of the blue light. Sir Chandrasekhar Venkata Raman (an Indian physicist) won the Nobel prize in 1930 for his work on light and came up with these answer to why is the ocean blue.

why is downloading music bad

why is downloading music bad

why is downloading music bad

The reason why is downloading music bad becuase all the tools are right there! So you wants the new song from your favorite band CD or perhaps you’re looking to make a scarry music compilation for playing over Hallowenn. For some people it is as simple as opening one of many peer-to-peer file share programs, selecting the tracks, downloading and burning to a CD-ROM. What isn’t so simple about downloading music is the copyright protection laws that people break everyday by downloading some music tracks off the Internet. To make matters even more muddled, some music can be lawfully downloaded, and for those that aren’t, laws regarding the sharing and downloading of music on the Internet vary from country to country. This is very confusing all you want is a song you hear on the radio. Ten years ago people have tape recorders and they would just tape songs off radio and I don’t remember any bands having any problem with that, in fact some band like The Grateful Dead it helped build them to the super stars that they are today. But Today Recording Industry Association of America has penalties for breaching the copyright act Read the rest of this entry »

Saddam’s regime was a threat to the USA and believed the change of currency for the purchases oil with the US Dollar to the Euro. This made billions Us Dollars be returned to the mint in exchanged for Euro’s gold value. We got some paper back and gave out gold! Allot of gold left the country fast.  Saddam’s regime had links with international terror groups that needed to be stop for allot of reasons. USA also wanting to free the Iraqi people from an oppressive regime and the final result of spreading Democracy in the Middle East. Another reseaon was securing control over a major oil resource  possiable by  by private US run companies.  There are alot of views out there these days some include avenging 9/11and creating a haven for American investment in a rich country. why is recycling important

why is recycling important

why is recycling important

Recycling is important because it saves energy, reduces rubbish in landfill sites and cuts the cost of waste disposal. Recycling is a brilliant way to use your rubbish to make something new out of. For example your can of Coke could be used to make another can of coke once it has been recycled meaning that instead of wasting more material to make another can it has used what was already a can. Americans make a lot of trash—more than 400 million tons of it annually. That’s a big deal any way it’s sliced. The air is polluted by factories and automobiles. The seas are filled with filth and chemicals. The Earth is finite in size, and the commodities the Earth provides are, also, limited. Recycling helps expand what we have so that we don’t run out of the good things, and suffocate under a heap of useless rubbish. The world has changed a lot in the past century. Why is cannabis good ?

Why is cannabis good ?

Why is cannabis good?  Some doctors’ new research shows that cannabis can be good for the following reasons:

  • A synthetic chemical similar to the active ingredient in marijuana makes new cells grow in rat brains. What is more, in rats this cell growth appears to be linked with reducing anxiety and depression. The results suggest that marijuana, or its derivatives, could actually be good for the brain.
  • In mammals, new nerve cells are constantly being produced in a part of the brain called the hippocampus, which is associated with learning, memory, anxiety and depression. Other recreational drugs, such as alcohol, nicotine and cocaine, have been shown to suppress this new growth. Xia Zhang of the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada, and colleagues decided to see what effects a synthetic cannabinoid called HU210 had on rats’ brains.

why is soil so important

why is soil so important

why is soil so important

What does soil do that makes it so important?
Soil is what holds plants up so they don’t fall over. Plants would look silly lying on the ground. Is top soil good for this also?
Soil makes food for plants to grow big and strong just like your mom or dad makes food for you to eat.
Soil also helps rain and snow soak into the ground. That way plants can get a drink when they are thirsty. Rain and snow soaking into the ground also helps prevent flooding.
Well, soil is important, trees find it difficult to fix their roots in air or water and rock impenetrable. Mangroves do okay in water but underneath that, soil is what they cling to. I like to eat things with my meat so the vegetables need somewhere to grow and my meat needs to eat things that also need somewhere to grow. Soil comes in different forms, ie. heavy, clay, loam, sandy to name a few and it is basically in one form or another underneath everything we walk on. I guess soil in all it’s variety is important.

Best of all, some of this ground water eventually ends up in the streams and lakes that we like to swim and fish in.

Soil being the most important component of a great yard and garden. We feed the soil not the plant. Get soil supplies here at
SOIL .

The avalanche of genome data grows daily. The new challenge will be to use this vast reservoir of data to explore how DNA and proteins work with each other and the environment to create complex, dynamic living systems. Systematic studies of function on a grand scale-functional genomics-will be the focus of biological explorations in this century and beyond. These explorations will encompass studies in transcriptomics, proteomics, structural genomics, new experimental methodologies, and comparative genomics.
